What did you base your comment on? The Nitto 555rii are drag radials. I am sure they can definitely handle the power from a dig a lot better.

Stick with your Michelins. No pun intended.

They handle ok in the rain when semi new. Beware you will only get 6-7k miles out of them.

R2 should do better. It is a semi-drag slick after all. Give it some time and let someone who has had personal experience chime in. I think you are making the right choice in going towards a drag radial.

Don’t listen to people who try to tell you this street tire or that. If the Michelins aren’t doing it then it’s time to step up to a serious tire.

I was looking at the r2 but was worried about how it would do in the rain, although you don’t have that problem. I would choose the r2 personally, but again I would wait till someone who has had them can chime in.

Are you talking about the 555 rii or the 555 g2? I would definitely agree if you are talking about the g2.

I would stay away from Nittos. Pretty crappy tire IMO. They have a nice profile. But that's about it.

As someone who ran Michelin's on his M3 for 15 years and decided to give 555R2's a try on his Mach 1, i can tell you I can't wait to wear out the Nittos and go back to Michelins. Cornering is awful with the 555R2s - they feel like they are going to roll over on themselves and they don't give nearly the feedback my 4s do.

Get the G2 for the front and the R2 for the rear if you are looking for getting the best traction from the dig.

I've got this same dilemma. Now add to the fact that I'm looking at a SC.

I'm using the Nitto NT555 G2 (305/35R19) right now but have a quote for the R2 in the same dimensions. About to pull this trigger this weekend.

air the rears down to say 28 help any? Problem is you need more sidewall so the tire can flex more. Or a gumball compound that is good and HOT. Street driving for 20 minutes does fk all to put any useful heat into tires. If you can put your hand on the tire, it's not hot.

Tested in 78 degree weather. 27 to 28 psi after 20 minutes of driving. It still fish tails on drag mode and adv track off. This is on ps4s 275/40/19. More likely will be getting either 555r2 or new wheels with MT street R. Just thought I give you an update you.

Well, I’ll weigh in.

I wanted / needed drag radials. Wanted the Mickeys but didn’t want the limitations of zero rain driving. They would offer the best dry traction by far.

I have 20” Nitto R2s. I was caught in a torrential downpour and thought I was doomed. They actually did really well in the rain. Mind you, only had about 1500 miles on them. Since then, I’ve been caught in the rain a few more times with many more miles and many passes on them. I’m fine with them in the rain so far.

Traction. Your mileage may vary. But, mine like to be toasty warm if making a pull. According to my dragy I have run several 1.6 60 foot times on the street on great asphalt. This is with heating them up really well. They work great. 6R80 car with 3.55s.

BUT, if you don’t hear them up as much and happen to be in an impromptu “race”, you will spin out of the hole. They are certainly going to be better than a regular high performance non drag radial tire but may not offer the absolute traction you want without some heat. For me, they fit the bill perfectly although next set I think I may go the Mickeys. Don’t get me wrong, my Nittos are great, but I do find them needing a burnout to really take advantage of everything they offer. I guess it depends on what the mickeys like. If they need lots of heat as well then I’ll stick with the R2s. If they require less heat then I’ll make the switch.

No offense to all the Michelin fans out there. Every set of Michelin’s I’ve ever owned broke a belt and had to be tossed out. Never once did a dealer replace one on warranty but rather gave me some song and dance about hitting something or wrong air pressure once. I’m taking tires with less than 10k km that appeared brand new other than the out of round bulging broken belt. Vowed to never own another set. Grain of salt though, haven’t owned a set in 7-8 years so they may be better now. But my money says not again.

As always, your mileage may vary but this is my experience.

I personally don't see how you are having traction problems from a 40 mph roll with only E85. You probably are making like 465 whp.

Are you running 20 inch rims? No way in hell you need a drag radial to make that hook lol

Pp1 are 19 inches. Ps4s are 275/40/19. E85 only should only make 430 to 440whp.

You should be able to hook with any decent tire. I would suggest the Toyo R888R and even that is going to be over kill for your power levels. No need to get MT Street Rs. Would be a waste.
