I haven't really seen many threads on the various microfiber towels/cloths that are being used and for what purposes. I was going through my detail closet this week and notice I have a lot of different microfiber towels and cloths and a few questions came to mind.

Which companies's microfiber towels tend to be your go-to company?
Which microfiber towels do you typically use for drying (I blow dry the Mustang, unless I am doing a rinseless wash)? Do you dry with the low pile side or the thick side?
Which microfiber towels/cloths do you use for spray on and wipe off detailing? This can be for general detail sprays or ceramic toppers. Low pile side or thick side?
Which are you using for traditional waxes/polishes?
Which are you using for interiors?
Which are you using for glass?

Hello; Lots of detailed questions which I never considered. I have several different microfiber towels. I get the different feel of some. So far, I pretty much use the softest for painted surfaces and the others for glass and other surfaces.
Biggest thing for me is to check the towels to be sure they have not picked up hard debris. Scratchy bits can get stuck in the fibers.

I will watch your thread to see if there is something to learn.

I used to use higher end micro towels over time.

But now it’s Costco. Get their Costco bulk microfiber pack, rip off the tags. Toss them in wash and dry cycle. removes any possible shedding

Never will I buy those boutique towels again. It’s like 15 bucks for like 40 of them!

I’m not a hardcore detailer but I found these micro towels to be perfect for me for all my used. They wash out well too.

The yellow ones? My girlfriend gets those and I've grabbed a few from her place to work on my car with. Always handy to have in a pinch. I think I used them with GO GONE to remove the chrome decals and apply my black ones.

sometimes they are yellow or gold, slightly variation depending on the batch. but they work well, and cheap enough that I will toss one if I use it for a real bad substance like grease/oil/grime/cleaning chain or something dumb that I dont have something else around to wipe up.

I also have a set of actual shop towels I will use and keep in a shop towel bin, and wash them periodically that I use for non detailing stuff. general upkeep

for throw aways now, I use the blue Scotts paper towel rolls from Sams club or Costco, like 8 pack for 12 bucks? something of that sort.

Honestly I have these but only use them on dirty unpolished areas. They are too rough for painted surfaces. Great value for a general purpose towel but proceed with caution.

I dont think they feel any different than my chemical guy microfibers oddly. I do wash mine first before use though, not sure if they are rougher before a wash.

I have just added a post on microfiber to my product thread -

Hello; I find this of interest. I pick up a towel and decide if it is good on painted surfaces by rubbing it across my lips. My cleaning stuff is kept separate from mechanic use stuff, but that is about as far as I go so far.
