I test drove the Mustang GT 2021 about 6 months ago and recently test drove the Mach 1. Not sure if it's only in my head but I felt the Mach 1 exhaust is throatier and louder. Is that the case or are they basically the same exhaust?

The best stock exhaust I personally have heard was the Shelby GT350 that I saw at the dealership last year that thing was wild!

The Mach 1 has active valve exhaust the gt you drive probably didn’t have that.

The exhaust is definitely loud for an OEM system. @crzystang has a video with catted headers and the OEM exhaust and it still is really loud even with a resonator.

It is indeed one of the loudest stock exhausts I've heard. I didn't like the stock exhaust on the Corvette BTW.

PS: My VIN Number is very similar to yours, just a different order. M5590 :sunglasses:

If the GT had the active exhaust the hardware is the same. The Mach 1 has has some different engine parts and tune that give it a different sound.

Edit: Duh, Mach 1 has different mufflers.

The mufflers are not the same. Everything up from that looks the same.

For these reasons I'm not doing a resonator delete because I want to do a tune with headers. No resonator will be rasp city and it will be extremely loud. I don't mind the loudness but the rasp is what makes it sound pretty bad. I was considering the Magnaflow Tru-X but I've seen it restrict flow some on reviews. I'm not even sure how restrictive the stock exhaust is at the resonator section.

It works well for stock headers but gets a little nasty with headers. It would probably be one of the top choices for a mid pipe since you get a unique tone with it. I just wish someone would make an X-pipe that had 2 long bullet resonators at the end of it. I may end up doing that with an X-pipe and have a shop just cut and add them in.
If you want to try it, let me know I have a set of SLP-LM1 resonators sitting in the shed. Make offer, I had them on my 03 M1, hated the drone and rasp with catted LTH.

Carl Widmann addressed this in a video...GT500 muffler and unique tips on Mach 1 give it a different sound. He also said the perforated tips were to take out high frequencies to make it just barely legal for all markets where the M1 is sold. I have never seen decibel reading for the Mach 1 though. Wonder if track breaks the 96 db that California is now cracking down on with sound cameras.

Corsa double h pipe would probably sound pretty clean with the Mach active exhaust and should have no rasp
