The dealership did that to mine after I asked them not to. Breaks my heart.
Bought mine from the dealer used. I was thrilled to see it had a Sto & Sho and no holes! Car had 14k miles, the previous owner got 19mpg average over the the 14kmiles. Front brakes still needed braking in. I got real lucky.

Any recommendations for water spots on the paint?
I use a Griots G9 Random Orbital Polisher and Meguiars Ultimate Compound followed by Ultimate Polish (and Gold Class Carnuba wax). I have other compounds, polishes and glazes as well, but the Ultimate products are fool-proof and really safe. For light spotting, the Polish alone will work. An Orbital polisher is a must....

you're my detailing hero :cwl: Looks great
Where did you get the interior detail spray? Does it work on plastic and leather type interior bits on the doors/dash?

First Mustang I spent much time in was my buddy's '68 in highschool.......
Nice car, it was pale yellow originally, but he had it repainted to dark blue.
Seeing yours brought back lots of good memories!👍
I refuse not to detail the 68. Regardless of weather.

Bought my new to me 2020 a few months ago.
Only 2900 miles and FLAWLESS paint.
Till I got ahold of it anyway........
Been using a nearby carwash bay with the pressure wand and in an attempt to not introduce the dreaded swirls, drove it dry as opposed to drying it by hand, again trying to avoid the inevitable.
Our water up here in the hill country is so hard it's rediculous.
When I got it home I noticed what looked like hard water deposits on the rear areas.
So I got my trusty quick detailing spray and new microfiber cloth and went over the hood, trunk rear end and roof.
Turns out it was shards of quartz road dust that had collected in the wet drops on the rear most areas.
I pretty much scratched the living SHIT out of my previously pristine paint. Made myself sick......
But, after studying around on here for a week or so, today I picked up a synthetic clay bar (news to me?) and some ceramic speed shine from Griot's Garage.
After a quick spray off at the car wash, I clayed it and used the speed shine as the lube, and all my swirls are at least hidden for the time being.
It looks like it did when I got it, at least for now.
I had originally stopped at the Autozone to pick up one of those small California dusters for the interior.
That thing worked GREAT!
As my mother used to say, "she's shining like a diamond up a goat's ass......"

Interior Cleaner is P&S Express. Used for when you need some decent cleaning ability. Smells great, foams up under agitation. Leaves a matt OE finish. I'm late to the party on using Express, but I think it's a must have for any car guy.

Interior detailer is CarPro InnerQD. Used for mild cleaning, refreshing, dusting. Likewise smells great and can be used on most interior surfaces including screens. One of my favorite detailing products. While expensive, you are only using this to moisten a towel, not dowsing the interior with it so a bottle should go a long way.

These Coyote based 5.0 V8's were fitted to Falcon's from 2010 to 2016. They were codenamed Miami and locally assembled by hand at the Geelong engine plant, where the engine builder would stamp his initials under the supercharger snout.

IMG-E1520.jpg

Most components like the block and heads were imported. The Miami V8 had a locally designed intake manifold to support a Harrop HTV 1900 with Eaton Twin Vortices Series rotors that were originally developed for Jaguar. They used the Boss 302 rotating assembly and locally designed exhaust headers. Unlike the Coyote, these engines only used VCT on the intake cams.

The huge open cold air intake was standard to introduce some induction note to the soundtrack.

While a Coyote is all about top end power, these engines hammer from idle to redline, which is set at 6250 rpm. The consequence of such grunt is hellacious fuel consumption!

These Miami V8's were the first Ford in the world to have a factory fitted supercharged Coyote.
So essentially you have a 2012-13 B302 Roadrunner in it?

From what I have seen/read online over the years is that the Roadrunner is very stout. It also didn't seem to have all of the nuances and annoyances of the later Coyote used in the S550 (VCT issues, OPG issues, premature IMRC failures, etc).

What else was beefed up internally with the engine before the Harrop was installed?

Any closer images of the headers used on it? Are they 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" primaries?

These engines were an amalgamation of parts, so they are no direct equivalents within the Ford world. As mentioned earlier, these engines were locally assembled in Australia rather than being crate engines like GM-Holden used in the Commodore (Chevy SS) (LS3's).

Some more reading for you here -
Miami V8 Engine: Boss 315, 335 and 351 (australiancar.reviews)
FPV turns up the Miami heat | GoAuto

"In re-developing the engine, FPV basically ripped the original Coyote V8 apart, fitting new high-performance pistons, conrods, exhaust valves and crank balancer at the heart of the engine to cope with stresses of the supercharged performance.

The supercharger was sourced locally from racer-turned-engineer Ron Harrop’s Harrop Engineering in Melbourne.......

........This system required new locally designed and built inlet manifold, along with Aussie cast stainless steel exhaust headers leading to the latest high-tech metal-matrix catalyst and an active exhaust system............

Because so much of the engine was highly modified, the decision was taken to hand-assemble the V8 in Australia, using a kit of parts from the US Coyote V8, such as the cylinder block, heads and valvetrain, some high-performance parts imported from the US (such as the new exhaust valves and pistons), and source others such as the manifolds and supercharger assembly locally. "

What was the HP rating on this motor?
Ok, this is going to get technical so apologies for the off-topic content. As I hope you all can tell, I am very passionate about this engine and the car they were fitted to.

These supercharged V8 engines were fitted to Falcons from mid-2010. The previous 5.4 DOHC V8's, which were also locally assembled in a similar manner from a variety of parts, did not meet the newer emission standards that came into effect mid 2010.

The initial power outputs were heavily restricted -

Falcon GS with the Boss 315 - 315 kw / 422 hp and 545 Nm / 402 ft-lb
Falcon GT with the Boss 335 - 335 kW / 449 hp and 570 Nm / 420 ft-lb

Some of the power restriction was down to saving room for future models, the throttle on these engines, especially the Boss 315, was restricted to open up to only about 70%. And because these engine were not fitted with an intercooler, although the manifold was designed for one, the tune of the engine had to take thermal management into consideration. There were also structural concerns with the Falcon's firewall and it's ability to take more power and torque. This meant upgrades were needed and therefore another round of crash tests, a process that Ford did not want to invest in at the time.

It wasn't until customers started putting these cars onto dyno's and the stated power outputs were being made at the rear wheels! that people started to question the quoted power outputs. It took a few years for the real story on power outputs to come to light. And it comes back to those thermal management issues.

On a cool day, these engines would over-boost up to 500 hp. When the sensors detected higher engine bay temps, the PCM would pull the boost back. Due to rules surrounding how power outputs are quoted, despite having the ability to make 500 hp, the 449 hp was the least it would make and therefore the number that had to be quoted/advertised.

Later versions of the Miami V8 appeared in the Falcon GT-F and Falcon XR8 Sprint as swansongs to the Falcon nameplate.

Falcon GT-F with the Boss 351 - 351 kw / 471 hp and 570 Nm / 420 ft-lb
Falcon XR8 Sprint with the Boss 345 - 345 kw / 463 hp and 575 Nm/ 420 ft-lb

These versions had more sophisticated thermal management via boost control per gear. On over-boost, the Boss 351 would make 420 kw / 563 hp and the Boss 345 would make 400 kw / 536 hp. Again, Ford was obliged to quote the lowest possible figure. A Falcon GT-F had the potential to do 0-100 / 0-62 in just on 4.5 seconds.

My car is fitted with the Boss 335 version. I have owned the XR8 for 8 years, from new. You can certainly feel the power management in effect on a hot summers day, the car feels a touch neutered. On a cool Autumns day however, the thing is a wild ride with relentless torque.

Here are some sound clips of these cars -

Again, sorry for the thread de-rail. These were our muscle cars in Australia, our Mustang substitute until they arrived in late 2015. I'm immensely proud to own one.
