I just had somebody in a pickup truck basically back into my driver's side headlight. Upper grille, lower grille, headlight and bumper cover are all trashed. The fender is scuffed/dented, and the corner of the hood is crimped downwards just a touch. Insurance estimate is already up to $5500, and the body shop hasn't even gotten it apart yet.

Yeah insured . Plus I got it on video . Hurts to see it lol
Believe you me my friend, I know it. I got my crash months back on video and it still hurts to even think about that Silverado slamming into the back of my car. Fortunately haven't had to look at it since. But hey—it heals.

Get it repaired by a reputable shop and have their insurance pay it. Make sure you check the quote that they're using OEM parts, of course.

Damn sounds like a bad shop. I’d get on them.

Nah, not like that. More like it's at $5500 just from a visual by the appraiser and they haven't started tear-down to see what else might have happened. Right now they're trying to see which parts they can even get while I can still drive it. Some of the aftermarket stuff the insurance company is trying to spec is unavailable, and actually higher priced than OEM.

I shoved a bunch of stuff back together and did some zip-tie surgery after the appraiser took his pictures. Looks better now, but still sucks.

My dash cam only aims forward. About 160* field of view. How did you capture the event to the side?

Hope it gets fixed . I’m worried about how the paint match will be

did it look good when you got it back ? I’m worried it won’t look the same anymore cause it was brand new
Yes, it looks perfect. Absolutelyno color difference.
I use a body shop that I have used for 20+ years. They have never let me down. Even knowing it was wrecked i cannot tell.

It may not look the same. Your fender alignment will be better. lol
This is the absolute truth. My fender, hood and door gaps are so much better than from the factory!

A woman hit me from behind too last year. Fortunately in very slow stop-and-go traffic so just a repaint required, but still. Don't understand why they let women drive at all.

For what its' worth.

" The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that men cause an average of 6.1 million accidents per year in the US, and women cause 4.4 million accidents per year. Males do 62% of the driving, but only cause 58% of the accidents. So women do cause slightly more accidents per capita than men "

FWIW, before and after of mine.
It's filthy right now, Georgia pollen is terrible, but you can see they did a nice job. Hood and bumper were not painted.
