Alright fellas, looks like I drilled into the top of the tank by accident while making the hole for my rear seat delete. It's right at the top where the hump is in the middle. I can smell gas so I'm pretty sure it's punctured. I stuck some JB Water Weld in the hole to patch it temporarily. I ordered a new tank today because I'm a little nervous about fuel potentially leaking since the exhaust is down there.

Anyone know what's involved in removing the tank? I assume the Diff needs to come out. My mechanic said he can do it, but just curious if anyone has removed their tank before? Pretty annoyed with myself right now.

I believe the entire rear subframe, diff and all needs to be removed to get it out. I haven't looked at the shop manual for that item though.

According to the shop manual for my 2016, the exhaust and drive shaft need to come out. The rear cradle/differential can stay in place.

Thank you sir! That sounds much easier. Was worried about the subframe not aligning correct again. New tank will be here today.

Looks like:
* Unplug everything up top (you get to take your rear seat delete out),
* Remove exhaust,
* Remove drive shaft,
* Remove two straps,
* Somewhere in list is unplug(?) filler tube.

For future reference, an old guy taught me this trick a long time ago. When you are drilling a panel which you know, or think, there may be something behind you don't want to hit, find a piece of tubing that fits over the drill bit (and butted up against the chuck), and trim it so that the barest amount of bit protrudes that will get you through the panel. That way it stops you from plowing through anything on the other side when the bit breaks through, because you're leaning on the drill.
