My Mustang is having a weird issue that most mechanics cannot seem to figure out since no lights show up

Pretty much when I go downhill or turn while going uphill, the car will "Stop" on very random select times

For example ill be going 65 on freeway about to change to a different freeway. That freeway has an on ramp that goes upwards. Ill start turning and press the gas and the car will stop accelerating, will make a very loud revving sound and will start shaking. Ill let go of gas and slowly press gas pedal and everything is fine again.

This even happened while leaving a shopping center the other day. Had the car parked for an hour. Drove about 35, turned left on a flat road and it happened again.

The shaking is similar to how your car shakes when you get a flat tire. 2006 Ford Mustang GT. Great great condition garage kept. Never any issues ever besides this and the door panels coming off.

This screams transmission issues to me.

Torque converter? Just so you know, a 2006 is an S197, not an S550, so you might have more luck in an S197 group.

I’m not saying it is either one of these for sure, however, I have seen this happening in a couple vehicles and one very recently to what you are describing.

I am not a technician l, but have worked with them as an advisor for over 5 years now. One vehicle we recently had in the shop with the “flat tire” sound a customer/coworker had in their vehicle which I can try asking the tech Tomorrow what he thought it was, but he said the transmission was shot. Something internal in it. She had her boyfriends buddy take it apart and rebuild it and there were some main bearings or something I wanna say that were ground way down.

As the previous comment mentioned it does sound like a transmission issue. It will get worse with time and most likely leave you dead in the water somewhere if it’s happening like you’re describing. My other thought was possibly the valve body, however, I have never had anyone bring up the “flat tire” feel when it has been one of those going bad. Hope that helps a little though, although not on the wallet 😕

Omg yup you are right. Is there anyway to move this thread to the correct spot? Or should I repost?

andrewr23,
What is the Mileage? How is the fluid level? What's the color and smell?
Daily driver? Summer only car? Has it ever been serviced? Fluid changed and filter?
16 Years is a long time if it hasn't been done.

106k. Will answer level color small tomorrow. Weekend driver. Took to mechanic a year ago and everything came out clear, he could not replicate the issue. Fluid not been changed
