Correct me if i am wrong but isn't there a mesh screen within the fill tube to fuel tank that prevents a siphoning hose to enter the fuel tank?

Ford sells a locking gas cap. You can get one from your dealership's parts dept for $28-$30. Problem solved.

get outta town
there is NO way you can steal fuel from the easy cap units. Just because there isnt a cap doesnt mean you can just stick a hose in there and suck out the fuel. Welcome to 21st century!
On other vehicles, how many people do you know that actually lock their cap?
really? I can open the tab in a snap of the fingers, very easy to get around, very easy

It isn't just the tab covering the opening. There's another door further in that has to be opened by an object the width of an unleaded gas pump nozzle. Look in your trunk in the spare tire area, there's an adapter you have to use if you ever have to put gas in the car from a gas can.

Edit: I'm probably wrong with the above, it looks like a completely new system. There is a funnel in the trunk for filling the tank from a gas can though.

So... you're worried about people stealing your gas, or randomly deciding for no reason whatsoever to pour sugar in your gas tank? How paranoid are people?

You should also make sure to cover the entire undercarriage of your car with 1/4" steel plate so nobody can sneak under it and cut your brake lines while you're sleeping.

Do you lock the gas cap on your current vehicle ALL the time?
Yes, the fuel door on the C7 locks with the doors

Not so. As I posted above, it doesn't fit the S550 (I bought one). They will need a new version.

You forgot stealing the catalytic converters[emoji6] though that is more common in trucks and SUVs for the platinum within the converter

Good info, thanks. Sorry for the bad info. We have one on my wife's ST, I thought it would work on the '15. Guess the tab is in the way?

I have a 2010 Ford Fusion with the capless fuel system, I was one of the first around with the redesigned Fusion with the capless system (purchased in June of '09, was a dealer stock order.) Anyway, point being, car is going on 5.5 years old now and have never had the fuel stolen. My 2011 GT/CS also has the capless system and have never had an issue.

Lastly, when the car is locked and I open the gas flap, the alarm goes off. It may be the same in the new Mustang? Not sure if my 2011 'Stang does it, I've never tried. It was an accident when it happen in the Fusion.

Well though I don't share Halfmoon's worry, I do see where he is coming from. RF I understand your reasoning, but if some turd decided to put sugar in your gas tank, how much do you think it will cost? I'm pretty sure in that case I'd rather have the keyed paint, slashed tires, busted windows, or any other cosmetic damage as opposed to contaminates through the entirety of my drive train.

I think i'll invest in a locking gas cap. $30 up front to prevent such a catastrophe is with it to me. Insurance will handle the cosmetics if it happens, but I'd rather my LE keep its original engine AND not get totaled out.
this happened at my place of work last year. a number of vehicles from one parkade level had sugar poured into their gas tanks. it wasn't until the victimized owners started talking about it at work before a connection was made and security started looking at camera footage and found a bunch of teens using a funnel and the bags of sugar you see at the supermarket. after that i bought the accessory locking fuel cap for my old 2011.

it's too bad it does not fit the 2015. the one i bought was a ford part, but i remember there were aftermarket brands as well, such as stantz, that made compatible caps as well that fit various other ford models. so maybe there is a non-mustang ford application that will fit.

my 2011 has no alarm with the fuel door open, that much i can confirm. i haven't crashed yet though so i cannot confirm the other question... hope i never will?

i don't work in a good neighborhood :(

the thing about sugar is that it dosen't always kill the engine right away. it has to work its way through the fuel system as you drive off. after that it's tow truck time to the mechanic to drain the tank and flush the fuel system out.
