So I recently pullied down from a 3.25” 6 rib to a 2.875” on a Gen 5 Whipple in hopes of getting my 60-130mph under 5 sec. Car has a sleeved motor and clutches on the 10R80. My best is 5.17 sec with the 3.25”. Problem is, with the 2.875” pulley the car won’t hook till about 80mph. Current tire/suspension setup is 305/45/17 ET street SS, BMR vertical links, rear toe rods, cradle lock outs. Will ET Street Rs give me a chance to hook from at least 60? Any recommendations for suspension upgrades? I’m trying to hook up on the street not just at the track.

HRSEPLA has been using ET Street R's for his 9.0 passed at 153+ MPH - with I believe the same setup pulley wise (he is stock engine though). Not a 60-130 pull though. I have run 5.15 on my setup using a 3.25" pulley but on the 10 rib (I'm stock engine as well running 15.5 psi on a Gen 5). I think it will likely come down to the heat (and psi) in your tires. And just doing pulls will make that tough without a burnout unless its fairly warm outside. My run was during my 1/4 pass - I am not doing 60-130 pulls anywhere else as my car is ridiculously loud and attracts too much attention lol.

Yea I was hoping for a 4.6-4.7 since that’s what cars that trap 150+ usually run. I’m probably gonna give it another try starting my run in 5th gear lol. Crazy how the 3.875” pulley I could launch in 3rd, 3.25” in 4th, and now 2.875” going to have to launch in 5th lol. Also going to switch to street Rs when my SS’s ware out. Thanks for your input!

Definitely need Rs. Also what's your rear camber? When pavement gets coldish down here its tough to hook. Gotta drop tires to like 16-17psi and warm them up good.

I haven’t looked into that yet but maybe I should. I got the basic suspension mods listed in my original post, then got an alignment and it’s only now at 18-19 psi that I’m having serious traction issues. For the rear tire pressure I tried 15psi and 20psi on the Street SS with no luck.

My only concern with the Rs is that I hear there terrible in the rain. I never willingly drive my car when it’s raining but sometimes you just get caught in some rainy weather especially in Miami

Better step up to the 315/50/17 Street R's.

It’s not ideal because at high speeds the car tends to pull slightly to the right. Regardless I feel like the biggest thing holding me back right now are the tires

Yea that’s definitely my next move and sell my current 305/45/17 SS that probably have another 3000-4000 miles left in them

Any modifications required to fit a 315/50 tire?

I had to use Steeda's 3/8" spacers above my drag springs. If you are stock height, you may not need them.
