Why is it that the 2022 mustang gt has 10 less horsepower yet is 2 thousand dollars more expensive?

Like seriously wtf? Is it lighter at least? If its just 100 lb lighter that could cancel out the 10hp difference

but they also increased the msrp by 2k :/

i mean i guess technically 450hp is still pretty damn good and still better to buy a 2022 new than a 2017 used which will pretty much cost the same and have less hp.

God damn it.

I hope ford performance releases a nice tune that adds hp like they did with the ecoboost.

Like yeah I get it 10 hp may not be noticeable, but its still 10 hp and who doesn't look at specs and when you're paying 2k more for a car with 10hp less, that sucks! I really should have pulled the trigger in the summer :(

Anyone else buying a 2022 GT? Anyone else in this +$2k -10hp boat with me?

I like to disassemble things.

Beacuse additional emissions equipment (over previous years) that emasculates power also costs more. Ain't government regulation great?!

Prices of everything went up. Partly because of parts shortage, they simply cost more. Don't forget the billions of dollars you printed in last years. Be lucky price of your electricity and gas didn't rise 300-800% like here in Europe...

The 10 hp is irrelevant, it's only psychological.

So is anyone else ordering a 2022 GT? I normally always wait to pull the trigger but the companies are learning to market FOMO perfectly during this pandemic and with rumours of ending the coyote I got FOMO FOMO right now. (get it? c'mon that's a nice ass joke!)

On the other hand I don't want to be the only sucker that jumps for the 2022 GT and buys it new to boot!

I was planning to buy new cos the used car bubble is absolutely ridiculous but now I'm wondering if I should wait for it to pop but then I also wonder what if it doesn't pop xD

will it still have a 5.0? I worry about buying a first model year. I hear with the 2015 the engine sound wasn't so good and with the 2005 they had water leak issues, so that means I'd have to wait another 2 years for a 2024 and of course gonna prolly be 4k more expensive by then.

I have a 22 Mach on order, so yes I’m in the same boat with the price and the HP loss along with the possibility of it not being built at all.

I read about a hydrocarbon filter being installed on the intake tube, not sure if it is anything of value for the lower rating.

At this point, I just hope to get the car next year and not end up like so many on here that have had their orders cancelled.

If and when I get my car, I will do my best to make up for the lost HP.

It’s all in your mind, impossible to feel any difference, about 1.25% drop in trap speed at the track. Drop in a K&N to get your 2% back and swap the stock one back in if you take it to a conservative dealer for warranty or service work.

My lawnmower has 10 HP. It’s means more to the historical value to some rich nerd 30 years from now.

My lord, you really are tightly wrapped around the axle! Stop worrying, it’s only a car.
1. Yes, on paper you will be losing gross 10 HP. Who gives a shit? You still have 450.
2. Yes, it’s going to cost more, everything does. Better sharpen your negotiating skills.
3. We do not know anything about the S650 yet. Word is the 5.0 Coyote will remain as is. Unlike the S550, the S650 will be more of a refresh than a totally new car.

So make up your mind. Order a 2022 or decide to wait for a S650.

And do it quickly as we are all dying to know. :cwl:  :like::rockon:

Yeah, I’m not concerned about the loss, I’m more concerned about having my order cancelled.

Yeah I agree. Tbh humanity is inherently unsustainable thats why i advocate for not having kids. Just having 1 less kid does more good than a lifetime of being vegan, recycling, driving evs, and pretty much everything else - COMBINED and Multiplied. If you're child free you're pretty much gonna have a negative carbon footprint even if you drove a tank everywhere.

Wish we could just cut all the bullshit, enjoy tasty food and nice cars and have a serious conversation about not having kids cos some people can't seem to wrap their heads around how awful things are going to be in the future for their children. Having kids is one of the most selfish things a person can do for themselves, the planet, others and their kids!

@Zent, you really need to post this on the ā€œscience is not cancelledā€ thread. I’d love to see some of the responses.

By the way, as I have found out, there is only one purpose for children, grandchildren. I would give up all the rest for them. 😁
