This disposable plastic device was in the car upon delivery. What purpose did it serve, presumably during transport?

Looks like some sort of prop, but can't tell from the photo how big it is. I'll take a shot in the dark and likely be way off - Does that part on top match the size of the striker on the hood, trunk, or doors? And if so, could it be from the assembly line rather than transportation?

I like your thinking. I hadn't thought about it being something from the assembly process.

As yours is a slightly different design to mine, I would guess that it’s either related to A) LHD v RHD or B) GT350 v GT ?

It looks like a tool. It’s clearly a handle on one end. I have seen tools like this to disengage electronic parking brakes and put an auto trans in neutral for a disabled car in the BMW world. Maybe it serves a similar purpose.

I had wondered if it was some form of clamp or restrictor for the pedals during transport - might also make sense with the differences in mine and the OP’s due to left and right hand drive ?

I also have an indent in one of the pedal rubbers.

Oooh interesting. Is it sturdy enough to hold the clutch in?
If it was in tension yes, but I’m not sure if it was loaded in compression.

Maybe if it more towards the top end of the pedals around the clutch spring ?

It is hard to imagine it being strong enough to hold the clutch in but I sense that we are close. I was thinking that it might have been brake pedal related. Perhaps, it helped apply the brake pedal somehow to further supplement the emergency brake during transport???
