Long story short i bought catted kooks before i knew i was getting a supercharger. So i have the standard cats. Im not doing a e85 fuel system at this time but its not out of the question for the future.

I dont have smog testing where i live but im beating if i gut the cats i have now or dish out the cash and get the green cats. Im not spending $1800 on the pre made pipes but i can get the cats and make my own complete set for about $1000 total.

Only thing im worried about is how strong is the smell of the exhaust with no cats?

For a car thats not on the track most of its life what says the masses?

You will get no smell at all. Cats when going bad has a rotten egg smell.
Don't forget the oil fouler trick for the o2 sensor

i just helped a friend put catless headers on his 2021 and got it running last night. my clothes smelled like exhaust after standing behind his car for only a few minutes. i also have catless on my 95 which has side exhaust. the smell is enough to make me want to either put cats on or else get rid of the side exhaust (ill probably do this option). if im stopped at a light or in traffic at all, the smell comes up and into the interior and my clothes will smell from it. i mention this car because of the side exhaust-i am not sure how much worse that makes it over rear exit exhaust. id imagine rear exit isnt as bad unless you're really stopped and not moving with the windows down for a decent amount of time. im sure it's much worse in my car with the side exhaust. so that's just been my experience. even if you get stopped for awhile, put the windows up. mine is a convertible, so it's something i have to live with or else get rid of the side exit.

Ok cool on the smell. Gutting the cats it is. Lets me spend that money on other parts. Thinking the steeda road race k member at the same time.

What is the oil fouler trick? I would be getting a dyno tune right after if that matters at all.

maybe try it with no cats. worst comes to worst if you dont like it, you can buy two cats and have a shop weld them in, or cut and clamp?

Oil fouler will move the o2 out of exhaust flow this way you get no cel. Get 2 oil foulers for each side. Drill a 1/2 inch hole in 1 and leave the other alone. Take o2 out put in unmodified oil fouler then put in the one you drilled. O2 screws into that one. This will take the o2 out of main flow

Wonder if i pony out the cash on making them in stainless or just steel for the test. U need to buy a bottle of tri-mix weld gas if i do them in stainless.

If im happy with it after a few months i would buy the gas and make them in stainless

Ok. So i ordered some female kooks sockets, two 304 stainless o2 bungs and figured out the angles everything is at. Ordered some 304 stainless pie cuts, some stainless mig wire and while i wait for it all to come in i will pick up 5ft of 3inch tube and make a jig to hold it all in place as i weld it up. I will likely just tack it with my mig and let someone tig it for me if they dont try to turn my pockets out. $150 or less they can do it.

Everything I’ve owned has had the cats removed. I never notice any smell.
