Hoping someone can give me some insight on my order for a 2021 GT500. I placed an order for a 2021 GT500 with a small West Virginia (USA) Ford dealer back in the first week of June.

Initially the dealer said they did not have an allocation for a GT500 but that they were "confident" they would be able to get it through/built. I proceeded and we placed the order. I checked in with my sales guy yesterday and he checked with "his rep". He got back to me and stated that he checked with his rep and that the dealer was able to get an allocation for the vehicle but that it is listed as "Material Hold" status currently. The rep told him it is related to the technology package associated with the order and the lack of parts supply.

This seems entirely plausible to me but I was hoping one of you guys who knows the whole process can shed some light on what I should expect as far as possible production timeline. Is the "material hold" something that other orders are dealing with? Should I expect a GT500 by the end of the year?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to joining the GT500 owners!

If you search and read within the forum under 2020 or 2021 orders you will gain wealth of knowledge on the process. A fellow forum member "Snoopy" has covered it extensively. If you provide your order number, dealer, etc he can look it up and will give you accurate info before your dealer has it.

As for the material hold. As you are prob aware there is a chip and parts shortage nationally. The flat rock plant has shut down a few times. Not sure of their production status at this time. But time frame is a huge ???. Many members ETA has changed multiple times from weeks to months and even been coded N/A at times.

Depending on how things work out you may or may not see a car this year. Many have cancelled their 2021 orders and are re ordering 2022's.

At the rate things are going, I'll be impressed if they get all the customer orders for 2021 produced. Let alone the allocated dealer retail orders. Time will tell.

Thank you for the response... I did go through the first 6-8 pages and the last 6-8 pages of the 2020 order thread which helped on understanding the process. I didn't see the "material hold" explained but I didn't go through the whole thread. I'll pull up the 2021 thread and potentially reach out to "Snoopy" with my order# and dealer info. I appreciate your insight. It sounds like I better buckle in for a potentially LONG wait. I am no stranger to waiting... (I have waited on cars before after ordering my Tesla Model S & Tesla Model X)

Unscheduled-Material Hold is the normal status assigned to all new orders regardless of any actual materiel shortages, this will change to Scheduled-In Processing when the order is issued a VIN.
Actual material shortages and plant shutdowns will affect production and delay the issuing of VINs.

You'll be waiting some time with parts shortages. I ordered mid april and im still on unscheduled material hold on my CFTP and my dealer does have the allocation confirmed by their rep.
Computer chip shortage aside the plant had a few week shutdown in May and is currently shutdown last week and this week. Reopening next week.

I have also heard rumblings that if you have a CFTP or CFHP that the Michelin Cup tires are becoming short supply
