So, after 750 miles, the Mach 1, like it's younger brother, the Bulllitt, needs a set of gears. I messaged the fellow that put 488s in his Bullitt a couple of years ago. He said Steeda wrote a tune so all the rev matching, etc works perfectly. He raves about the gearing.

I am looking at 4.30 or 4.56 gears. I swear my 2016 with a 355 was faster than the M1. Since we have a longer RPM range I am thinking it should be real fun!

Steeda hasn't called me back so I called AM. I spoke with the tuner at Bama and he said as soon as SCT provides support for the 2021 he will be able to do a tune with no problem. I know some folks don't like Bama but they have written tunes for several of my Mustangs in the past. No issues at all.

I went with 4.56 gears and got the tune from Wengerd Performance. His response time was amazing. Contacted him on a Friday night and by Sunday morning had my final tune and everything as been running great for the past 5 months.

Who installed your gears? Which company manufactured the gear set? Also, any gear whine? Thanks!

I'd wait on steeda since they have already done one, so they know what needs to be changed.

Texas Drivetrain Performance. They are in the Dallas area. Went with Yukon gears as they recommended them over the Richmond gears.

There is a little whine but I only hear it if the exhaust is in quite mode.

The rear diff temp does get up to temp much faster compared to OEM. Temps are always around 150-200F. I don't know what diff oil they put in but after 1000 miles I swapped to Amsoil 75w-90. Temps are about 25° cooler and it has been running well.

Tell me more. How was the increase from a stop? Worth it to you? Any other info about driving daily is welcome.

I daily my car ~70 miles per day in a mix of highway and street. It does accelerate much faster but the main thing it helped, and is what I was looking for, was 3rd and 4th gear.

Before 3 would be able to hit ~115 mph and 4th was far above that. Now 3rd tops out around 90 and 4th ~130 so it has made the car much more enjoyable.

Definitely worth it to me. If you don't mind rowing through gears constantly, particularly while street driving, then I really don't see a downside.

Back in my fox body days. we had a saying. " never fear the gear". It was one of the first things we'd do to our cars. Nitrous or blower we'd run 3.55-3.73, N/A 4.1x-4.30. Drag racing
