Hello, I’m new to this group. I’ve become quite irritated with the problem that I am having with my 2017 grabber blue mustang. I bought it brand new. It doesn’t even have 30k miles on it yet. The paint by the back window has started chipping off. Since it’s past the 3 year warranty, the dealership will not do anything about it. Has this happened to anyone else?? If so, how much did it cost to repair it? Thank you.

That is a well known issue, where the body seam filler is shrinking/coming off, and taking the paint with it.

If that was my car,and noticing there's some rust starting, I'd treat the areas with something like PQR15, then somenew seam sealant, and then touch-up paint from Ford.

Since it's in a crack that's hard to see, it doesn't have to be perfect.

There's also a chance that water is getting into your trunk area due to that.

The body and paint warranty is longer than that. Take it to Ford.

Out of warranty... take it to any competent body shop to be repaired properly. They will have to remove the rear window. It won't be cheap.
Not a DIY job with touch up paint.

I didn't know Earl Scheib worked at Flat Rock. Is he still there?

We called Red Mccombs in San Antonio where I bought it from and they said any Ford dealership could take a look at it. So, we took it to Ken Stopels here in Kerrville. They were the ones that said it wasn’t covered. But I though Ford had a 5 year rust warranty??

Thanks. I literally just noticed this less than a month ago. It’s so crazy how it’s coming off so fast. I’m getting a quote now but we were holding off on it to see if my extended warranty would cover it.

that is bad. get it fixed asap, even if its out of pocket, before it becomes worst imo. make sure the shop will warrant the work if it continues, like legit protect yourself.

Paint Warranty is 5/60, and that paint delamination should be covered.

Attached is Ford Warrantable vs Non-Warrantable paint guide. The Ford paint is covered under the 5/60 Paint And Corrosion Warranty outlined in your Mustang Owner's Manual. It does not protect against damages such as rock chips or other, only workmanship and corrosion.
