I am assuming the 2021 calibration is like the 18-20 models. The performance modes are supposed to keep rpm up and be more aggressive. It will downshift as you slow down and be very quick to downshift under throttle. Normal mode is smooth and designed to skip 2nd and 4th under light throttle. The various modes seem to me to be a near perfect combination and very similar to stock.
So basically use normal mode in daily driving and get use to the gear skip? If I’m gonna WOT it then use sport and higher?

Normal mode does not skip at WOT. I like sport+ most of the time but I do use normal in stop & go traffic.

Can the shifts and shift points be tuned? VMP is 5 minutes from me so if they can make it shift better then I may just go see them and get some more hp/tq while they are at it.

Transmission calibrations aren't just for drivability, there's a ton of effort that they put into it for keeping your transmission alive, fuel economy, etc . If you're concerned about your warranty I'd leave it how it is and use the modes provided if they fix your issue. Aftermarket adjustment will void your warranty for sure even from VMP.

That’s the fine line I’m walking right now. I went with Roush for the warranty with Ford’s. If it weren’t for that fact I would have went straight to VMP and had them do the work. Spending the kind of money you do for this setup I was hoping for a little better shifting. My wife won’t even ride with me if it’s in sport or higher mode unless I’m doing full WOT pulls.

That is what those modes are for so that's understandable to me haha.. maybe drive around in normal mode and manual shift it to your liking.

Good point maybe I just haven’t wrapped my head around that point yet. Haven’t actually used the paddle shifters yet, might give that a try and see. Thanks for all the help and information guys!

Thank you for the knowledge on that. It doesn’t really bother me as much as the erratic shifts back in forth in sport and higher modes. I’m wondering if Roush is still maybe working on this issue or if a tuner can tune these issues out? I don’t want to mess with my warranty but I also didn’t spend all this money to hate how it’s shifts either.
Ned to call Roush and complain so we can get a trail going with them.
min my opinion there are still issues with the 2021 tunes.

I think that is a good idea. They have obviously had some challenges with the 2021s.

I have an email out to them so I will keep you guys updated on what happens. To be honest after spending $9500 I expected a lot better!

I feel the same way with the low power I’m experiencing and some drivability issues I’m having. Hopefully they will get it fixed.

I thought maybe it was just me after some of the responses on this thread. Glad I’m not the only one who feels that there are issues and maybe the tune was rushed. I’d honestly not have a warranty and have way better drivability then to be pissed I spent this much and hate how it drives!

Roush sometimes releases tunes that are a work in progress. They do eventually get it worked out. The 3rd version of the P2 tune for 2018-2020 models is great. The first 2 versions had flaws.

They all do. Some just do better than others with updating. It takes months to get the tune halfway usable and most want to beat the competitors to market so the first tune or 3 are generally rough around the edges.
