Can a case be made for leaving it bone stock?

Absolutely!

The majority of Mustangs that come off the line are driven bone stock.....modders like us are in the minority.

To me, the factory tune in my ā€˜16 is good enough I don’t feel I need to change it for my driving style.

I drank the stage 1 cool aid when I had my HD. I perfectly content to leave it alone.

Let me say right off that what anybody does with their car is clearly no one else’s business. Period. I get that.

When I got my GT Premium convertible last fall I started dreaming about what I might do to it. My first thought was a warranty friendly supercharger. Then I thought nah, too much trouble and expense. So next I thought about the Ford CAI/throttle body/tune kit. But even that requires a reflash.

So then I got to thinking: how much more could I realistically use on the street? And what about the expense and subsequent diminishment of reliability? Here’s a non-scientific factoid I’ve noticed: many, if not most of the problems guys post about here seem to be related to an aftermarket tune. If you’re willing to put up with that it’s fine I suppose. Each to his own. But if we have cars where changing out a stereo can screw with the traction and stability systems, in the long run are we smarter than the Ford engineers?

I might change my mind but I’m beginning to think that maybe I should save up the GT mod money and put it toward a second Mustang like maybe a Shelby. I guess I have a low tolerance for inanimate objects that don’t work right.

The FR Power kit is a no brainer to me. Its warranted, has a CARB EO# and for me the drivablitiy was the biggest increase especially for a Base 300A car.

A refleash with the ford performance kit is easy and reliable. If you have an auto thats what I would go with. Im not sure why you would think its not reliable. Its from ford its good to go.

If you one day sell or trade at a dealership then the bone stock state of your car comes in handy.
92.6% of dealerships prefer a bone stock car on their used lot. They will take anything if the price is right

After ordering I bought the redline strut kit, oil separator, sto & sho and a shift knob from WM garage. I had already decided I would get the H pipe. After driving this car I am fine with the exhaust, performance and handling. I would love to upgrade my sub but can't find that JL sub everyone was recommending. I did do a 35% tint and I pick it up Tuesday from the shop doing the ceramic coating.

You do you.

I love seeing modded Mustangs and will always throw a genuine Thumbs-Up when I see them in the wild. For me though: I work with machines for a living. Wrenching on a car is the last thing I want to do in my leisure time.

The factory floor mats are abysmally cheap looking, so those will get replaced. I'll also tint the windows because ATL in summer is balls hot. Other than that, I'm good.

What "bone stock" are you asking about?
I mean there are mods and then there are mods.
I have done some appearance and convience mods. Stuff like covering the air bag warning stickers, changing to black lug nuts, a colored sticker behind the Ford oval on the windshield, hood struts, jacking rails, that kind of thing.
But engine/exhaust/ drivetrain/suspension or brake mods those are not something I intend to do.
Nor would I consider buying one with those kinds of mods.

Mine is basically stock and I like it that way.

Steeda Clutch Spring
JLT Catch Can
Escort Radar detector with Blend mount.
Dash cam
MBRP Street Exhaust

I can easily revise those mods.

Sometimes I'd like to put the Stock exhaust back on so I can beat the crap out of the car without attracting attention but I like how it sounds when just cruising at low RPM's . She gets pretty loud at High RPM's

So tell me about your airbag warning stickers. I had pulled them off in the past but these seem stuck on there pretty good. What kind of colored sticker did you put behind the Blue Oval?

I get it.

I’ve changed over from Sport and now run my exhaust in Track mode 100% of the time.

I’m pretty much addicted to it.

I bet it sounds great with the top down. I had a TR6 and it was so much more fun to drive with it down.

There's a member on here that sells both the air bag covers and the oval as well. His website is stickyzombie com. The cover is black and matches OK, the pony I got from Amazon. Since my car is Race Red I put red behind the oval.
