These engines are designed for extended high RPM operation, they drain extremely well.

If you are on a track being 4 qts low on a 10 qt pan might cause problems, I won't try it.

The OP said he drove it easy for about 100 miles. This shouldn't be a problem.

Not sure on a coyote but about a pint to 1 qt is in the oil passages and upper cylinder heads. These drain very well. Unlike in the past.
I remember people blowing up chevy's from installing high volume oil pumps then running them on a track.

This, I forget which famous race engine builder said this "run the thinnest oil you can stand the noise of"
I agree that they drain well. What I was trying to say is that when the engine is running some of the oil will not be in the pan, and the higher RPM you are running the less oil will be in the pan.

Now turn a corner, touch the brakes or accelerate and even less of the oil is going to be under the oil pickup.

All things very obvious to anyone.

That is why the pans have baffles.

I would not knowingly run 4 or 6 qts low. But if somehow it happened I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Other than figuring out why it was low.

Another reason I never go in for my free oil changes.
Seems odd. Why not accept the free oil? I mean, you can check the level in the parking lot before you leave.

Seems odd? Huh? Mechanics fuck up all the time. The potential cost savings of some free oil isn't worth the risk. If they can't be expected to actually change the oil correctly, why the hell would I let some monkey like that work on my car?

I would definitely lose sleep over it.

Hey all,

Update: No issues to note as of now. Once the wheel bearings come in they will finish running the diagnostic tests to see if there was potentially engine damage.

After that, I have a meeting with the GM and AGM to go over how they can make it right i.e. extended warranty etc.

I get they are doing their best to make it right, it just sucks it had to come to this.

No oil loss, I check the oil after every drive and it looks fine. I do have some oil in my separator, I have not drained it to see how much there is.

I have put on another 500 miles so far (driving from Orlando to Tampa couple of times to see family). Here's hoping all my worries are over, stay tuned!

I also got my oil analysis kit from blackstone labs, I sent it in already and I am hoping to see some good news there too!
