Hey all,

The guy with the brand new transmission here, shifts great no noise.

See photo below, confused as to what this is? This is my oil dipstick showing absolutely no oil even though the dealership changed the oil when they put in the transmission. I did not get a low oil level light either.

I've had the car a week from the dealer and put on about 100 miles on the new transmission, I did not check the oil level until just today (got the car back last Friday). I did notice a metallic clanking, when I ran to the grocery store earlier today, decided to check the oil level at set intervals:

minutes after driving to the grocery store - car is on level ground as well. I followed the directions to check oil to the T (both in the manual which recommends being in 1st gear, and a supplement video on the forums, just to ensure I wasn't losing my mind).

5 minutes - no oil
10 minutes - no oil
15 minutes - no oil
30 minutes - no oil
1 hour - no oil

I figured that would be enough time for the oil to finally settle, but alas, nothing... I am afraid that I may have been driving it this entire time on no oil, there are no leaks in my garage nor in my driveway (I have pavers, I would have seen that easily). The day I got it back from the dealer I drove it straight home (about 7 miles) and parked it for a few hours, then took it for a spin cruising around the lakes. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary but to be honest I was just listening to the exhaust note.

P.S. My voltage shows 12.7 volts at idle at a stoplight, took it to an autozone near my place, they checked and said the alternator is bad and the voltage regulator is bad...(I was informed of this on Sunday).

I'm guessing they didn't put 10 quarts in, and only 8 or less maybe? I'd be on the phone with them demanding they tow it on their dime and drain and refill

You know, I didn't even think of that... would lower than 8 quarts show not full? I assume if there was absolutely no oil in there that engine would have seized by now? hopefully something internal is damaged and I get a brand new engine, this would give me a transmission/engine replacement (so I bought a used GT350 and now have an almost brand new one).

Not sure how many quarts low it would take for your dip stick to be bone dry like yours

Another reason I never go in for my free oil changes.

That's the shitty thing, I never asked them to change my oil... it was only to go in for transmission issues. I have the paperwork to back that up too.

I saw an oil change sticker on my window when I picked it up, didn't think anything of it either... FML

The other thing is they didn't even reset the oil life monitoring system, what a bunch of plebs working there... good lord

Check the paperwork they gave you. It should have it listed on there how many quarts they put in

On every V8 engine I have owned 2 quarts low would not show any oil on the stick. I'd put a quart in and recheck, then the 2nd.

Nothing in the paperwork other than the transmission work and the body panel gaps they fixed... I never signed anything asking them to change the oil either..

I would call them right now and do as I said before, have them tow it drain, check for damage etc...

yeah tried that, they are closed already, will call them tomorrow morning. I have the AGM cell number too, since they had my car 3 months (2 months for a misdiagnosis on the transmission, then another month to order a transmission and replace it). So myself and the AGM know each other well and he probably doesn't like that. Maybe I give him a call at 8PM EST and let him know what's going on and prepare to fix it tomorrow.

If they put 8 qts in it you are fine. Lots of racers run 1 qt low.

2 cents worth of advice when you call. First tell them you noticed the new oil interval sticker and ask if they changed the oil. If yes ask why no indication on paperwork, why oil monitor not reset, and have them double check theirs and you need to see a copy. That should give you the info needed to ascertain if done properly. If no, then ask them to explain the new sticker, if indeed it is new?

Then inform them you're concerned because you noticed it was at least one and probably more quarts low when you got it back. Then as above suggest they tow it back and assess how low and what their/your next move is. Depending on that, might need to start a convo with Ford itself.

P.S. there is no low oil level light on this car.
P.S.S. respectfully disagree with not getting service oil changes. Just tell them it's a GT350, needs 10 quarts 5W50, and torque the filter appropriately.
