I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they start going for individuals who claim to have race pipes and other things on their cars on YouTube and public forums. That will be after the manufacturers and tuning shops, if it happens.
that’s kinda what happened in the diesel community. A lot of forums would block certain words from being used in threads or posts. We would also misspell certain words so if anyone did a search...nothing would show up. Anyone who recently joined and and began to ask questions would be ignored.

as far as buying certain things....I’veseen some websites require you to pay to join before viewing their website. Then you would receive either a refund or store credit once making your 1st purchase. Other companies simply moved to the maple leaf....

If a given car ever had a VIN and was subsequently converted into a "race car" even if it would never be driven on the street again, they are absolutely trying to eliminate the ability to do that. Read this..

And familiarize yourself with the RPM Act...

I know it is a form letter, but for what it is worth, here is what the now infamous Ted Cruz wrote back on the subject went I added my name to the petition.

March 8, 2021

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports (RPM) Act of 2019 (S. 2602; 116th Congress). Input from fellow Texans significantly informs my decision-making and empowers me to better represent the state.

As you may know, the Obama administration proposed a rule in 2015 that would have enabled the EPA to impose fines on competitive motor sports. While the provision was ultimately removed from the final rule, it is clear Congress never intended to give the EPA the authority to regulate vehicles used solely for competition, including vehicles modified to be used exclusively for racing.

In order to prevent future administrations from pursuing this misguided proposal, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) and I introduced the RPM Act. Among its provisions, our bill would have prevented the federal government from imposing unnecessary red tape on amateur motorsports enthusiasts who convert personal vehicles into race cars. Specifically, it would clarify the legality of vehicles modified to be used exclusively for racing by exempting them from regulation under the Clean Air Act. It would also prevent the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from creating a vehicle or racing parts registry or database. While unfortunately the RPM Act did not become law during the 116th Congress, please rest assured that I will keep your views in mind as Congress continues working on this issue in the 117th Congress.

Thank you again for sharing your views with me. Please feel free to contact me in the future about any issue important to you or your family. It is an honor to serve you and the people of Texas.

That was funny, I had to do a double take and went back to my original post because I thought I missed it! Though I hear his office at the Ritz Carlton in Cancun is really nice and you get two nights for the price of one during a snowpocalypse.

Again, just kidding and glad to see support for the RPM bill.

Don't misconstrue. Any angst is directed towards those who try to take our freedoms away, and in this case, the pursuit of happiness via this very hobby. No ill will is wished upon anyone that recognizes it and can find humor in it.

All joking aside, I could be reading the letter and with rose colored sun glasses, but I was actually pretty encouraged to see it had made it to that level and is being supported.

Hopefully everyone here supports the efforts being done by SEMA and PRI, along with a few random politicians along the way. Without their efforts, this thing we enjoy is lost.

All in here. I am looking to buy or build a dedicated track car based on a production model in the near future and I don't want that option taken away.
