Just watched it again tonight for the fourth time. T'was just as good. I think this movie is gonna end up on my "could watch over and over and over" list.

And because I know we have a bunch of other pilots and aviation members in here...They touched on Ken's service in the British Army, but Phil Remington was a B-24 Flight Engineer in WWII. So that's pretty damn cool.

There really should be a movie made about Phil Remington, his contribution to the success of Shelby American was huge.

Agreed but also suggest that Klaus Arning and Peter Brock should have considerable mention as well as Jim Marietta!

Ha! I watched for the 4th and 5th time last weekend. I will watch again for sure. Ken Miles is my hero now for life.

I agree.

I happened to be cruising over to Road Atlanta to bribe a worker to save me a spot in the pits. I left the track and spotted Peter Brock at a Super Performance dealer across the street. I pulled in. It was Peter Brock.

I introduced myself, and he was as nice as could be. He was working for SF at the time since he helped them redesign their GT40 for production. I like it. We went to lunch at Wendys, and he bought me a burger. We swapped emails. He later sent me this picture of his driver GT40 "Daytona" (it had A/C). I'd say 10+ years ago?

Great thread.
What a great story and sure is nice to hear how down to earth these Shelby American team members are from back in the day.

Last January I was able to spend about 2 hours with Jim Marietta going over the Shelby Mustang GT350 Competition Model that the OVC was presently producing and what a wonderful and humble gentlemen he was.

I had an absolute blast talking about the 36 cars that they were presently building just as Peter Brock, Ted Sutton, Ralph Arning, himself and others helped design and build back in late 1964 and for the rest of 1965.

The amount of passion that still exists for these Shelby Mustangs from the likes of Peter Brock and Jim Marietta is absolutely incredible and appreciate you sharing your cool story.

Pretty much a once in a lifetime event for both of us!!

:clap::clap:

Absolutely Harry!

The 66 LeMans story probably has more appeal as a movie, but as excellent as it is, the whole time watching it I kept thinking the prior 3 years, which culminated in Shelby American winning the 1965 World Sportscar Championship with the Daytona Coupes, is even better.
