From 18 to 19 or 20?

If I was going to run 20's, which I do. I would go for more tire. Keep in mind tire shops are the same people that recommend those 24" tires you see on some cars that really should be running 17's. What are the sizes and offsets of those Rohana RC7 wheels?

I am not sure about the offset numbers. What do you mean by more tire?

Another thing to keep in mind when scoping 20” wheels. The extra weight of 20” wheels is doubled in rotating mass. For example, if a 20” wheel is 10lbs heavier then an 18” or 19”, its the same as adding 20lb to each corner of the car in rotating mass. Times-4 is 80lbs added to the weight of the car. Rotating mass is very different from the actual weight.

More tread width all around. A 255 tire is not very wide at all. I don't think I would like the appearance of the narrow tire on a tall wheel. I guess my question is, why not run the 275/35R20 on all four wheels?

This is true but should compare against the stock wheel. There are many 20" wheels that are 10+ pounds lighter than the stock 18"s. Now if you compare the exact same model of a wheel, then yep the 20" will be heavier than the 19" and the 19" heavier than the 18" and so on. There are definitely pros and cons but really matters to what is trying to be achieved. Adding a dual subwoofer enclosure is adding about 60-80lbs to the weight of the car

I am in it for the looks but I don't want to handicap the car. I like the way a staggered set up looks. That set up is 9 in the front 10 in the back. Its what the tire shop guy recommended. I did notice it was not a commonly used size on the forum.

I've learned that many businesses recommend what they have/sell. If you are in it for the looks, you aren't going to like it very well when you park beside one that has 275/35R20 or larger. If going with a 20" wheel, you already know the more common setups are 20x10 in the front and 20x11 in the rear, with appropriate sized tires. This is one of those things that you try to buy what you know you will like from the beginning because it gets to be expensive later, realizing that you don't really like it and can't sell them for 40% of what you paid.

Nice car you have, a red convertible. I have the same but a 2015 with 50 year anniversary appearance package. Mine came with 19’s from the factory and will most likely go with 20’s. There aren’t too many options for 19’s. What I would do is find a wheel you like. If it’s only offered in 20’s, then there you go, get 20’s. Unless you are seriously tracking the car, I wouldn’t really worry about the difference. And like someone said, aftermarket 20’s, especially forged, can be lighter than 19’s.
Here’s another food for thought, the GT500 comes with 20’s. There are also plenty of exotics that run on 20’s as well.

I have a Mustang GT PP1 with the black 19" PP1 wheels. I really like the style of the factory PP1 wheels, but I wanted lighter weight, and opted to stay with 19" wheels, both because I think it looks good, and I could reuse my factory tires (added benefit). That said, not all 19" wheels are created equal. Some have spokes that go nearly all the way to the edges, like the SVE R350 wheels, making them appear larger, compared to some wheels where the spokes stop 3/4" or more shy of the outer edge of the wheel. I'd shy away from the latter.

That said, I put on the SVE R350 19x10 +35 all around a month or two ago, and they did not leave me wanting 20" wheels. Nothing against 20" wheels, but I think these in 19" look great (on my car):

It looks like the local tire place quoted stock tire fitment. Your set up looks good. My son wants me to put black wheels on my car.

I've found the 19x8.5" Black Accent wheels in the "What things weigh" thread, 26 lbs and change isn't too bad for the size.

I have been talking with the folks at project 6gr. Their wheels are quite a bit lighter than the Rohanas I think it was a ten lb difference. They really promote the weight and the concave being designed for the mustang. They are about 500.00 bucks more then what I am looking at at the local shop.

The Rohanas are pretty heavy, IIRC. I'd never put anything that heavy on a car, but I could see putting one on my boat if I didn't already have a 32 lb anchor.
The Project 6g wheels are a much better choice. SVE has several similar designs, also flow formed, at a lower price point.
