If you decide not to use the 17 truck manifold shoot me a PM because I'll buy it from you.

SAY WHAT,
Don't get me wrong, if I was track bound every chance I got, the 18 manifold makes sense. I just don't like being so close to 8000 RPM. The consensus about the stock F150 manifold is it drops off fairly quickly after about 6500 RPM. The Ford power pack 2 is good to about 7500 RPM. Will porting the F150 manifold help carry it further out at the higher RPM range?

You don't need to be on a track to get the full benefit out of it, you also don't need to sit at 8000 rpms. But if you want to putt out of corners and like the low end torque you could go truck manifold. I have a lot of fun just hitting 7000 rpms in 2nd while on the on ramp of a highway.

Yeah - I had mine out around the mountain roads outside Sydney (Australia!) on the weekend. The thing drives so well on twisty mountain roads. Keeping the car (6MT) between 3rd and 4th was brilliant.

Kept the rev range in the 4k+ - the car was singing along and more than keeping up with a Roush charged car around the curves.

e85 just provided that extra kick too.

The 18 isnt just a great track mani, is a great mani for non-highway, non-city driving. And you dont need to take it near 8000rpm ..... the power does seem to keep delivering to well over 7500 however and is awesome for pulling out of bend onto a straight.

You really need to drive these N/A Coyotes like a Honda. There is a reason the MT82 has such close gear ratios. Keep the revs up and it will run great, down low it is a dog (for V8 standards). I messed with mainly 4cyl stuff the past 20 years, so for me it is natural to drive it this way.

Also a PSA... not trying to pick on you @TeamDenno but your posts caught my attention..

If your planning on doing multiple things, install them and then get the tune. This is the reason tuners are raising prices. If your installing a 18 manifold and injectors, wait until you have both ready and they can send the tune for THAT COMBO. Plan out the build, get it installed then request the tune. Again, not trying to be a dick but causing the tuners more work is not beneficial for anyone.

You are right... but here in Oz sometimes parts are hard to come by, as is time in the shop to get stuff done.

I had an opportunity to get the Mani done without injectors before I managed to get hold of the injectors. The 47lb injectors here are on 6 week postage waiting from the US... unless you can find someone who has bought a Ford Performance charge kit which comes with these injectors, and is swapping them for 1000hp injectors before install.

Thats the reality of living in Australia and owning a US car

It's all good, you have extenuating circumstances due to location, that is understandable. My response was aimed at people here stateside that do the same thing but for no good reason.

OT - hows the weather down there in the November-January months? May have to make a trip for work this fall/winter. Not looking forward to that 23hr flight if I go lol.

Nov-Jan is gorgeous. Its peak summer. My favourite time of the year (except is no good for intake temps!).

But you aint gonna make it here this year. Maybe Nov 2021. Our borders are shut for the foreseable future. We aint gonna open up a border to the US until at least March 2021

So are people still having to lock the CMVs? Or do most tuners know how to make them work now?

Unless you are a 20 year old kid, or only use the car on weekends, they have not figured out the auto trans.

No, they make the trans shift like a turbo 400 with all the springs removed and the plate drilled out.

I like a good firm fast shift but not bone-jarring.

Most people getting tunes either have standard transmissions or like the hard shifts. I'm 60 years old and want a fast smooth shift. I don't want the seat punching my kidneys or the car going sideways on the 1-2 shift in a corner.

So far even when telling the tuner to leave the trans alone, it changes the way it functions in a way I don't like.

I've either had a tune by or ridden in a car tuned by all the big names.

But what does that have to do with the CMCV? Or did I miss the context your are replying to?

I was replying to Brian, I am totally consistent about the trans.
