Instead of a recall, Ford will issue a Customer Satisfaction Program for various things that don’t rise to the level of a recall or addresses something that’s a bit funky.

What did you really expect to see after only 1100 miles?

a replaced engine since it’s a Shelby
It's amazing to me that people who don't own Shelby's just can't stop riffing on the engine thing. It's really getting old.

The shifter replacement program was to fix cars that were manufactured with defective shifters that came from a supplier. Ford stopped shipping GT350's for a couple of months when they realized they had a problem, but before they stopped shipping, some cars were released to the public. Those cars are the subject of the CSP notice.

I'm an owner and agree with him. Mine made it two weeks and 454 miles.

I had a 16 and 17 for short period of time. Loved both cars. They could do a hell of a lot better on panel fitment and kept my fingers crossed my number wouldn't come up for new engine since Ford does not have specific mechanics assigned to replacing the engines. You can only pray they get everything all hooked up back right and don't scratch up your engine bay or fenders.

What is the real % of blown engines for the Shelby? And how many of those were "user errors"?

Broken Voodoo's are click magnets on forums, social media and YouTube. They get huge attention and it's created an image of poor reliability that the Voodoo doesn't actually deserve. The 2019/20 production numbers aren't out yet, but there were 4,400 GT350/R's produced in 2018, so figure maybe 7,000 more in the 2019/20 model years. Suddenly, 8 failures doesn't sound like a lot - one in a thousand or so. It's a huge pain for all the owners that are affected, and I don't want to downplay that, but it's not the crisis that social media has made it out to be.

Hope your right I had two GT 350's and enjoyed them till being old got it out of my system and went back to a truck. But just because engine failures on these cars are read on forums there is no way of having an accurate count of how many no matter how driven or mileage have failed and that person doesn't belong to a forum. There may be many more. I'm glad Ford steps up and replaces them when it does happen. Both mine used a quart of oil every 3,000 miles. I did/do have a problem with Ford covering there a** with the letters we got saying its within limits to use a quart of oil every 500 miles. I know its been said on hear before that other performance car models use excessive oil also. But I find that unexceptionable before Ford will replace the engine unless it blows. And my kind of post always brings out those posting with numerous miles and using very little oil if any. And I say well good for you, your one of the lucky ones. But overall the GT 350 is a great car and made this old fart feel like a young man back in the 60's every time I fired them up and put the exhaust in sports mode.
