Anyone running the Calimer stage 3/ Mantic combo?

Beefing up the drivetrain in preparation of a Whipple stage 2/e85 set up. I’ve read a ton about the Calimer stage 3/RST, RXT combo with troubles. Seems the RXT is still too hard for the billet gears, and the RST may not hold the power for long.

A TR6060 or Magnum XL swap would be sweet, but if I could find a reliable combo at the 700-850rwhp and just build the MT82 I’d like to do that.

Anyone running the stage 3 with a mantic clutch? Twin disc, triple disc? Any issues launching or high rpm shifts?

Few various threads on here, and other forums, for awhile Calimer suggested the RST for that reason. Is that not the case?

I haven’t seen or read anything from someone with the stage 3 and a McLeod clutch with specific issues regarding that combination. Not doubting you’ve read it but I’d love to read on here where someone actually experienced an issue due to that clutch/trans combo. (Link me?) I have a stage 3 with the RXT 1200 and 855whp. I contacted Ben via text before and during my build confirming with him my choice of clutch would be ok and he responded to me directly via text saying he has multiple customers with the RXT and 1200 with no issues so I went w a McLeod based on his answer to me asking him specifically about clutch options and my use of the vehicle.

How has your stage 3 been holding up? Think I'm going to pull the trigger. I've been looking all over the forums and the internet for people having any issues with the stage 3 and I haven't found any yet.

It’s held up for my use of the vehicle. I can’t say anything beyond my experience. It’s a fun on the hwy and hurting feelings of anyone who wants to make a couple pulls kind of vehicle. I don’t run it at the track or beat on it. I would call Ben and speak with him about your build and your use of the vehicle and goals. Tell him where you plan on going down the road with the build as well. He’s not someone to push you in any direction other than what HE would do. He doesn’t try and sell his Stage 3 over a Magnum XL as he sells both. I’ve talked with him several times on the phone and via text and he’s always been good at helping make decisions on which options to go with both for trans and clutch. Voice your concerns and ask all the questions you want. He’ll answer them. He’s been great to work with.

For what it’s worth, my mods are listed in my signature. Last dyno was 855/639 STD correction on a DynoJet

I’ve read those 3 threads before. I just went thru them again for a refresher. Nothing stated in any of them talks about the STAGE 3 build with the billet GeForce gearset being broken by an RXT. Ben also didn’t start selling the Stage 3 until July or Aug of 2017. So anything stated in those threads before that time frame aren’t referring to the Stage 3. The Stage 1 and 2 are the same gearsets that comes with the trans. The Stage 3 is not. He also offers a 26 spline input shaft at no extra cost instead of the 23 spline the MT82 has stock. Which is also billet. All I can say is I’ve called and talked with Ben directly via phone call and text and discussed my build plans and goals and use of the car. Call him and discuss your intentions with the car. I’ve had mine in the car for 9 months and it’s been fine. I have the 26 spline Stage 3 with the RXT 1200.

I just sent my transmission off to him. I already purchased the RXT 1000hp clutch. I've been looking and asking around and so far I haven't heard anything bad about the stage 3. I seen someone on youtube break a stage 2 with a whipple car. Switching from 3 to 4th. That's about it so far.
