So I’m looking to trade my 350 for a 350R. I did some research and believe Ford used to offer a Rear Seat option for $1K from the factory. Is this still the case?

I like to disassemble things.
No, that has never been the case. Ford Racing sells or sold a rear seat kit made specifically for the R though. It isn't something the factory will install prior to delivery to your dealer.

You can also just pick up a rear seat from a GT if you don't mind the upholstery not having the red stitching.

Why get an R if you have to have the rear seat? I own R's. I had a track pack. The only difference is some aero, wheels, minor suspension differences, but most impotantly the VIN.

If you are in need of a back seat, don't buy an R. A set of forged wheels and cup 2's go a long way

I’d say Track the seat kit down by part number provided and do it. It’s a few hours for the install but not too tough. There are a couple threads here and/or PM me if you need any particular advice.

And the reason to do it is because Kids.

I love having a R with a rear seat. It’s not like the seat does anything other than add practicality.

And I get it. The reasons we love R’s include the unique features and the fact they come with completely ridiculous tires, wheels, and exhaust. Just like a GT3. And the fact that you pay extra to get it without a seat and then another $1,000 to get the seat they took out back in the car makes it even more special lol

Just a note for R owners buying seats out of a GT or GT350: You will need to get some extra bolts, nuts and studs to complete the install. They are HT1, HN1 and HS2 and you will need 2 of each. Those are permanently attached/reused in the GT350 and Ford doesn't install them on the R's.

I'm doing the install today in my 2016 R. I ran into a snag where the rear package tray (shelf) doesn't seem to fit over the newly installed strikers. The holes don't seem to line up. Did anyone else have this issue?

Are you using the FP kit or parts you gathered. The FP kit includes a new package tray to accommodate the strikers.

Good call, I made the mistake of not opening everything in the box. I'm all set! The kit included everything needed.

FWIW, the FRAP did built 1 GT350R that came with factory back seats and that was back in 2016 and for some reason I took pictures of pretty much everything except the back seats.

I agree and not too smart but once I get back to S.C. I will make sure to take pictures of the factory back seats.

As you can see the chassis number is "CBB 1".

This 4 seat R model was a charity car auctioned off in Detroit during the Fall of 2016 and once the owner showed me the Ford documentation it was made out to Jay Leno in error.

Jay was supposed to be the high bidder for this car but obviously that did not happen and happy for my friend who ended up with the car.

Wow, that's a rare car. Interesting. Any more like this with the blue highlights and stitching?

The only one that I am aware of and offered to purchase this car a couple years back but it was a no go.
