Family hauler, for now
How difficult of project is this? Also do the carseat hooks come with the seat kit? Thoughts on room for a carseat+3 year old toddler in the back seat (after installed)

Curious as well about the car seat hooks. Good question.

So when I asked the question a week ago, I got flamed and got called troll. This guy asks the same question and look at the responses:)

OP,

I looked into this, its a DIY for 1-2 hrs depending on how good you are. The only tool you need is a low torque setting torque wrench and socket set.

That's either because:

a. You are a douche.
b. We knew you were never going to buy a GT350 R
c. Both a & b

I've done this.

The child LATCH seats are provided for both sides.

I haven't found anyone else online who has. The project itself isn't that hard, but the kit as designed by Ford Performance is incomplete and the instructions are woefully insufficient.

Missing parts:

2x striker plate screws
2x seat mounting studs
2x seat mounting nuts

Note: the parts weren't just missing from my box, they were missing from the instructions as well.

My almost 4 year old fits in the back with a booster seat just fine.

The only tool you need is a low torque setting torque wrench and socket set.
Plus:

A 3/8 Inch Drive External Star Socket. Don't use a 1/4 Drive as it'll break at the torque required.

Various sized Torx bits.

Thanks for the input Spacebird. Did you source the missing parts from Ford or through a hardware store?

It looks like you are using the seatbelt to secure the booster seat, correct? (Not the hooks that are standard for most vehicles?)

I got the parts from a Ford dealer. I had to sit dow with the parts guy and look at exploded diagrams of non-R models to find the right parts. The seat stud is a rather exotic piece that you won't find in a hardware store.

I'm using the hooks from the LATCH system to secure the seat. That seat has a guide through which the seatbelt goes.

Spacebird Any chance you can list part numbers/vendors for the items you had to source separately?

Sure. I suggest going to your Ford dealer and showing them this diagram. I've seen all sorts of different nuts, bolts, and studs that share the same part numbers. I asked the parts guy to pull up the drawings for a non-R but I suspect these parts are the same as you'd find in a regular Mustang.

In addition to the parts that come in the kit, you need:

2x HS2 - These are Torx screws that affix the striker plate to the chassis.
2x HT1 - These are the studs that go into the chassis that the seats mount to.
2x HN1 - The nuts that hold the seats to the HT1 studs.

I explained all of this in an e-mail to Ford Performance, and spoke with a guy on the phone. They just sent me a new hardware kit which was still missing the HT1 and HN1 parts (but I could use the HS2).

While you're sourcing parts, pick up one of these online:

I was only able to find them in 1/4 drive locally (at a NAPA). At 40ft-lbs there's real risk in breaking a 1/4 drive. While a 1/4 socket seems to fit the splines in the stud perfectly, you'll likely round them out at that torque.

Nice, TY!

I'll be adding the rear seat myself next Spring, when my baby comes home.

You got it! Hopefully Ford Performance will have corrected the missing parts situation by then. FWIW, I got mine from CJ Pony Parts for $810. It lists for $1000, CJ has it for $900 but I found a 10% code.
