Hopefully the former. Chicago to Boulder via I-80, 1000 miles. Pulling my 4'x6.5' former popup camper full of things to my daughter's house, tomorrow. Two day trip and my first with this rig. Looks like decent weather so my main concerns are the small trailer wheels (4.00x8) and low hitch clearance (about 5"). No road hazards, please! New hubs, wheels, and lighting plus a couple spare tires. I guess my cruising speed won't be what I'm used to (ha-ha), but once I get there I'll have a few days to buzz around the mountains and Boulder and maybe hook a trout in town, Boulder Creek. I suppose I'll have to pick up two or three hundred pounds of ballast for the way back and hopefully don't pick up any rock chips. Wish me luck.

Best of luck on the trip! My bet is keep it under 90 pulling that thing. Boulder was nice today- perhaps some rain Fri/Sat but you should miss snow and any bomb cyclones (probably). Safe travels....

Did a similar drive from Chicago to Denver a few years ago at the end of March, but took i90 and went thr long way, glad I had winter tires on, since youll be further south you shouldnt have too bad weather. Of course there was a blizzard last week!

Make sure the load is balanced correctly. When the "tail wags the dog", it usually means you need to redistribute the weight in the trailer.

What speed are those tires rated for?

Is you trailer over 3,000 lbs when loaded(doubt it from the size)?. If so, you need brakes on it.

Do you have a jack that can be used on the trailer, plus a tire-iron that fits the lugs on the trailer?

Finally, you might want to bring a spare hub assembly. I see you have new ones, but if you do come into problems, it's better to just be able to replace the hub if needed..

I like it. I have my 13 Scion tC as my workhorse, traveled all over the country going to tracks and traveling w my motorcycles lol. I use the utility trailer for anything and everything that people own trucks for.

Prob have 30,000 miles towing the motorcycles around. I had a slight leak in rear strut at 99k but dealership replaced both under my extended warranty. Worth ittt

I personally never had an issue ever towing anything using my car. But it’s also front wheel drive not sure if that matters.

Heck it's snowing here right now, albeit in the foothills but Boulder is right on the edge. That trip is a bit of a gamble either way ... patience is probably the key with a good dose of preparation.

I think I was leaving, but yeah. Every year routine. My group of like 8 guys got busted going 160mph on the sweeping ridge lines. Had nowhere to go, so had to pullover lol.

Everyone except me got mandated court and fines they had to go back for. Me being a former police officer got a massive ass chewing and told me to leave his state.

Op have a safe trip! Post updates letting us know when you get there, it could be a risky trip depending on weather.

15 hours, drove straight through. Stopped for gas and food. Cruise set around 80ish. The trailer bearings and tires stayed cool as a cucumber. Glad I had the bra because the last two hours were crazy. There was a tumbleweed attack on I76 along with the rain and wind and dark but the car and trailer never hiccuped . I am bushed. I hit the whirlpool soon as I got to the hotel and I’ll post some car pics later. Also, still learning the iPad.

Thanks, yes I try to cover any contingencies. The 4x8 tires are rated at 60 mph. Try doing that on the open interstate where all the big rigs are doing 75. I officially change the rating to 80 due to field testing. Edit, in cool weather.

I highly recommend a drive through the Black Hills of SD, and around the Badlands...not much traffic and a beautiful state.
For sure. Deadwood, Devil’s Tower, Rushmore, Carhenge, Museum of the Furtrade, Custer and more. Did that last June before the tourist crush. It was awesome
