What did it say on the car fax?
Accident damage on (date), right rear. That's probably my all you could get from the accident report. Are accidents public information? Are they searchable?
I've seen dealer service show up on a few reports. I wouldn't consider that a negative, it's a maintenance record if nothing else.

And. I take it no dollar amount.
It's not a ding on your car or it's value

The dealer certainly used it when setting trade in value, claiming it showed as an accident for any potential buyer. I'd like to think I negotiated most of it back out of the deal but I might have done better if it weren't there in the first place.

Sorry but it was your fault,

You shouldn't have been there for the other vehicle to hit. Plus your were being aggressive by stepping out of your car. Now you are being slanderous and are liable for producing undocumented hate speech toward innocent Americans.

Negative on the bodyshop unless it is a dealership. Same as service records.
Don't know if there is some hard fast rule. My Cadillac dealer body shop does NOT report. I'm not saying none do but can see reasons for them to not report since reporting will cost them business from people wanting to pay out of pocket to avoid Carfax or higher insurance.

As for diminished value. Go for it. That might even be better than a clean Carfax assuming you get a realistic diminished value. The reason is that diminished value is based on today's value. The longer you keep the car the less effect the accident has on its value. Lets say you collect $10k diminished value on your new Mustang. Then you drive it until it would have been worth $10k with a clean Carfax. Obviously, the car will not have a zero dollar value, so whatever you do sell it for is pure profit. Same applies to whenever you sell it, but the profit is greatest the longer you keep the car.

It would have to go into a Ford dealership bodyshop and entered into the service records like you see on CarFax for oil changes, etc.
