Its a wall of hyperbole. This myth that the Mustang has inferior build quality to German/Japanese cars. Ive had various BMWs, while the older E36 and E90 M3 was solid, the E90 335i had numerous engine issues from the turbo and the alloy wheel even cracked. My current Hyundai has had issues with false readings from engine sensor to a faulty speaker amp. How many issues from the Mustang - zero.

I agree the a/c issues are pathetic that Ford hasn’t addressed it. But, it’s repairable. Other than that, the puddle lights are gimmick at best and if they work or not so be it. The bumper coming loose is odd, but again repairable. If you really like the car and it runs and drives well which is the main concern I would try to find a better dealer shop to fix the gremlins. Sadly, some of the part changers we seem to have to deal with either have self medicating issues or just don’t care. But, there are good techs out there and it’s finding the shop or dealer that has them.

Worst car I ever owned was a Honda Accord. Pure junk.

To the OP - sorry to hear about your troubles. Sounds like it is time to trade. I hope you find something you're happy with.

I also come from a family of German and Japanese car owners, and I actually work for the Germans. We are the second owner of our 335is with 26k mi, and between the two owners the car has probably had $6k+ in work. Most was warranty covered, but some wasn't. In 26k miles, this car has had plugs, fuel injectors, charge pipe, and various sensors replaced. It is still likely that the fuel pump will go out in the next year or so. The 325i we had before that was a constant set of problems. Damn thing ate wheel bearings, leaked oil like crazy, and suffered various electrical gremlins.
While my Nissan has been a beast, it has also required some repairs that could have cost thousands had I not performed them myself. The quote I got to fix the coolant leak at the back of the head was $2100. The front rotors, which seem to only last 25-30k mi, will cost you $600 to have replaced at a shop. The Bose stereo in the thing basically set a rear speaker on fire. I had to replace the head unit, all speakers, and remove the amps. That was $600 after I did half the labor myself.
All cars have issues. German cars have expensive issues. Japanese cars and American cars are hit or miss, but at least the parts are cheap for American stuff.

So, I have had my car for less then 2 1/2 years. Coming from a family of Japanese and German cars, I was the first to get an American car. All I have to say is my dad was pretty spot on in terms of the issues I would deal with. I can't remember the last time anyone in my family has had to take their cars in for warranty work. As for me, I'm tired of it to the point where I'm done. Once I trade in this car later this year, Ford has put me off buying another one of their vehicles. It also doesn't help that my experiences have never been stellar when it comes to the Ford dealerships service centers, and I have been to many. Whats crazy is many of my issues seem to be fairly common. My front bumper was replaced just recently. The issues with it coming loose due to the poor design seems to not be uncommon from my research. What's worse is I think there are many who have resorted to fixing it on their own because some dealerships aren't approving the repair, when there is a plethora of evidence online showing that this isn't an isolated problem. My ac stopped working, and I had the evaporator core tsb fix done. There is a huge thread about this issue on this forum. And now after a few weeks it has stopped working again. So I gotta take another day to go to the dealership and get this handled, most likely will take a couple of days to fix. The cooled seats I'm supposed to have have never worked properly, there is also a long thread about this and the TSB for it from Ford apparently does nothing. The car started to creak and squeak within about a few months of ownership and sync3 has a habit of disconnecting my phone every now and then for no reason. Even something I thought was silly but cool, the pony projection light, I've had to take that in to have fixed because at one point it was just projecting a blob. I'm just tired of it all. As much as I love the car and working on it, I think Ford needs to seriously up their quality. I'm not expecting the finish and detail of a Porsche, I get that this is a value performance car, but I don't wanna have to worry about my AC going out every few months. I guess this second time it went out was just the last straw for me, it is what is is. End of rant.
Here's the difference between German and American cars. American cars have parts that break under warranty, then you're usually okay. German cars wait until the warranty is over and hit you with the kitchen sink of repairs. Which is worse? I think we all know...

Myself and my kids all have Honda/Acura... To the contrary they have been bulletproof with well over 100K miles..
So far my stang has only had the evap core replaced.. Other than that she is fine at 25K miles.

As funny as this seems, cars like the Mustang always seem to work best as base models. They are traditionally cheap cars so pimping them up only adds complexity and repairs.

I would have bought a base GT if the Canadian dealers actually brought it in as normal stock (they did in 2018 but not in 2017).

So I bought a base V6 and couldn’t be happier! The ac is a valid gripe but the puddle lamps are useless bling. The heated/cooled seats are more useless bling - plus to make that work they give the seats marginal padding that creates serious back and leg problems during extended driving. The radio like all car radios these days get outdated before the payments finish. The Mustang is a blue collar car. Buy the cheapest version you can and the car is in its element. Trying to turn it into a poor man’s Porsche will not work.

Doesn't sound like you've worked on it. Sounds like you let the warranty handle things.

I've had one issue with my 2016 GT. One.

TLDR: My American car with 400+ HP is not as reliable as a Japanese car with half the HP and I don't like it.

I have owned/still owned various VWs, Porsches and Hondas for the last 20 years. Some have been trouble free and some have not. My current Cayman and wife's Pilot have had to have warranty work. My older VWs (2002 337 and 2008 R32) have also had minor warranty work. Not sure I can remember any car I have owned that has not needed some type of warranty or recall work done. I expect the Mustang to be no different.

All manufacturers will have some issues with some vehicles. It's due to the total number of units sold and probability.
