Okay let's get this one started, how do you think the GT500 will compare to a ZL1? It's clear that in a straight line it should be the victor however what about a roadcourse? I am really looking forward to the matchup with the 1LE. I know we have no solid numbers but I still think that is a good discussion to start.

In a video from the show, the Ford rep said the gt500 was a chunk faster then the R.

The PP2 performs just as good as the 1le. So I don’t see why the GT500 shouldn’t out perform the ZLe. It should have a fairly decent tire advantage. Which seams to be the name of the game in road course work. It’ll be a brutal beating in a straight line. Until the ZL1 gets the 750hp upgrade. That seams to be a no brained for Chevy. Bench racing at its finest. I also see the DCT giving us the win over the red eye.

I think the GT500 will beat the ZL1 1LE at the drag strip and on a race track with turns. Ford has had a lot of time to calibrate.

:muscle:The GT500 will destroy the zl1,1le, and maybe beat the redeye in the 1/4mile.i will say this, and you heard it hear first. This new GT500 should have been the new GT350, and the new GT500 should have had 850+hp with twin turbos

a dam total disgrace!!what the HELL!!!:explode::angry::computerrage::facepalm:
This if its true actually makes me believe the 4000+ lbs weight speculation. Maybe Ford couldn’t keep the weight down with all the addons and realized even with more rubber the weight and chassis only allowed some improvements for the handling but nothing drastic. Lets hope for this to be fake news.

Beating the ZL1 1LE on the road course is a tall order, even with the extra horsepower. Should be interesting to see a head to head with the two at some point.

IMO, the GT500 seems to target the plain ZL1 in the road course and drag strip, not the ZL1 1LE. It has a bit more hp, but weighs more and retains the street friendly Magride suspension (although I'm sure it will be highly tuned).

The ZL1 1LE has the ridiculous Multimatic suspension which is on another level past even Magride stuff, so it's more suited for the road course. And given that it will weight 400lbs less than the GT500, I don't see how it will even be a challenge for it.

I think the GT500 is gonna beat the zl1,1le easily.

The Carbon Track model __might__, but of course - and that's if you GAF, I certainly don't - the retort to it beating a 1LE will be, it should, it's $15,000 more expensive (obv. I'm taking some liberties without the pricing yet ...), and just the general ZL1 comparison: it only took Ford 4 years ... combined with "Wait for X/Y/Z model Camaro ..."

I think the most impressive thing would be a car that's super livable DTD *and* is faster than a 1LE.
