We were given a gift compared to the 18+ cars. Really.
Mod for mod, the 18-19 can't be beat. My stock 18 is almost a full second quicker than any stock 15-17 from what I've seen. The 10 speed auto is what convinced me to buy the 18.

Is my 2019 twice as good as your 2016 at twice the price? I'd say yes but that's based on my personal bias.
And I'd have to say, that's one hellava bias you got there...

For my take, a 2016 even with 0 miles on it is an old car.
You do realize a 2018/2019 Mustang is still an S550..., just like my 2016?? Are some 2018/2019 owners living is some kind of fantasy land where they think their cars are a different/new model of Mustang and NOT another S550?

One with over 600 miles on it would be a used car and not new.
And as soon as you, me or anyone signs the papers and drives a "new" car off the dealer lot, it instantly becomes a "used" car. Just like my car, and just like your car!

a three year old used car vs a brand new car isn't even a decision for me. ...my value to price balance says that your purchase is a waste of $27k and wouldn't be worth it. Why would I waste that money on an old (still an S550) car that doesn't have what I want in the first place? $52k for the new (still an S550) car (that became a used car as soon as you signed the papers) with the things I want was a better value proposition for me.
More of the same...

A 2016 with 0 miles on it is an "old" car. LMAO now I've heard everything.
Yep, just like if you bought a brand new iPhone 7 today (released in 2016), it would be an old phone. Just because it has 0 minutes on it doesn't mean it still isn't 3 years old.

I have a 2019 Bullitt. Please show me an original factory 2016 GT with all the options and specs I have on my Bullitt, then get back to me.

That's not the point. If you buy a "new" car with 600 miles, that car has been driven. Dealerships drive their cars all the time. Sure if you want to believe a dealer that says "oh no, this car with 600,800,1000 miles is really new. Look the warranty will start with you!", then more power to you. You're more credulous than I am. I see a car like that, I put it in the "used car" bucket regardless of what the dealership tries to tell me.

That's a complete non-sequitur, and would only be a valid comparison if people were out buying iPhone 7 phones at the same price as an iPhone 10, which no one is doing; just like no one is out buying 2016 Mustangs for the same prices as 2019 Mustangs. Your iPhone comparison is equal to comparing me buying a 2014 Mustang to your 2019 Mustang. Not the same model car, not the same model phone.

Another non-sequitur, as there were no Bullitts made in 2016, and even if they were people would not be paying 2019 Bullitt prices for them. But to your point, imagine what I could do (2.9 Whipple/LT's/800hp axles/GT350 brakes/Katzkins leather/full-audio revamp) to my 2016 GT for the price difference to what you paid for your Bullitt? Different strokes for different folks.

Kudos to you however, as the Bullitts are seriously cool! I love that color, but I could never have a dark green or black car, because neither of those choices are colors, they are part-time jobs!

You are missing my point, which is what you are getting for what you paid. Great, you got yourself a nice new car! As a fellow American, I am happy for you. But I got myself a fantastic used 2016 Coyote powered, fully-optioned, S550 Mustang GT for half of what you paid. HALF. I'm making a bit of a guess here, but I could throw another $10,000 at my car (which I will be doing within the next year) and my car will slay your Bullitt in any catagory you choose to name, and I'll probably still have spent at least $10,000 less than you did? And at the end of the day, you have a used S550 Mustang, and I have a used S550 Mustang.

If all you wanted was a cool, new car with some heritage and a warranty, and are willing to pay what you paid; that is great by me. I am genuinely happy for you. Hell, I would love to see your car. I didn't want to go that route because I knew I would be doing some serious mods to any Mustang I bought, to the tune of between $7,500 - $12,000 with the mods in my sig and the mods I mentioned above. Going the route I did allows me to do the serious mods I want while spending way less money.

I had my heart set on a brand new mustang. I was going to get the 2020 version. I had planned on spending 48 to 50K and get it fully loaded. I had rented and drove extensively a 2018 and loved the A10. I ended up getting a fully loaded 2015 for about 55% of what I had planed to pay and I think I am getting 95% of the enjoyment.

Just wondering if the OP has driven a "19? I'm 2 weeks & 200mi into ownership of mine. GTP 10A PP1 401A MR AE etc. Haven't broken it in yet and only once went maybe 3/4 throttle in track mode. As a daily driver except when it snows, I don't see any reason to make it faster. Handle better, yes cosmetics, yes 93 tune, yes and remove speed limiter. But TETO

My 2019 A10 is my 5th Mustang and first one with an Auto. I hate Automatics but I was sold after one test drive. After a month of ownership, it has been the most enjoyable experience and I have had 700 HP before. The A10 simply kicks ass, even in Normal Mode, and I now routinely take the long way to/from work now.

If you don’t have the A10, you are missing out! You cannot row a 6 speed that fast!

Yeah only so much you can do on the street. And really not much before you are running the risk of getting the wrong kind of attention.

This thread could go on forever about what is best, faster, etc.

I bought my 16 due to pricing, options and personal preference. My “fastest” car before was my ‘00, bolt on/4.10 geared, 125 shot GT. It probably made similar RWHP numbers to what a 15-17 car would but it was several hundred pounds lighter. Couldn’t get it out of the mid 12’s due to traction and not having a straight line freindly suspension.

So for me, 435hp out of the box with room to grow is a win. Would 460hp be better? Sure. Would Magnaride be better? Hell yes. My choice to get a GT was not a need but, rather a want for fulfilling that void of the feeling my old GT brought me and getting back into a RWD V8. Cars/wrenching/driving is part of my DNA and literally can change the weather of my mood.

Financially I could have gotten into a base ‘18 GT for a similar price. My ‘16 only had 5,700 mi when I got it in September and it was sold as a CPO car. Even though that’s technically a service contract, if I get the tick at 95,000 mi and the engine takes a dump, a $100 deductible is a lot better than out of pocket for a new engine. The financing terms were good for the CPO and due to a mistake on the dealers part my interest rate was dropped a point to 2.9%.

I got a PP, 6 speed car with next to no mileage. I got something fast that handles like it’s on rails, stops like mad and looks freaking sick. No, it’s not new. It’s also not lightyears behind the 18+ 6 speed cars. The A10 is a whole different beast and while I know I will always get my ass handed to me mod for mod, that’s ok. I haven’t ran at a track in at least 7-8 years so in reality, it’s not like I’m racing competitively where that makes a difference. I’ll take the joy of banging gears for as long as I can. The A10 is an excellent trans and I see why people go from manual to auto for it, but it’s not my thing.

Awesome car you got there.

FWIW, I feel the same about my car. I don't see any reason to make it faster.

Yes yours is faster. Mines pretty fast and has more than adequate power for a Daily Driver. I can't really use all that power on my commute to work or going to the grocery store and I'm never gonna track it but I could I quess. ? I do like punching it and that feeling of awesome. These cars are so cool :sunglasses:

So I am finally a buyer, I had convinced myself that the new A10 was what I wanted and am only waiting until spring to get mine. I live in Colorado so not much sense in buying one right this minute...But the research is well under way and I may wind up building /ordering what I want. I would like to keep this car for several years.

But with all of the noise regarding the engine tick / rattle and some A10 issues I am seeing, would I be much better off with a 2017 GT / Auto? The used prices are hard to beat and that leaves a lot more $$ for mods.

Is the 6spd auto reliable enough for a supercharger and daily driving? I don't plan to go crazy on power because this car will be my daily driver and I need it to be reliable as well as fast. I plan to do the normal Steeda suspension mods, different wheels etc. And at some point soon, forced induction.

Please give me your thoughts. I consider the opinions hear heavily in my choice.
I know some are saying buy an older one and mod it, I ran against guys who had "modded" previous years Mustang's and modded ones were running mid 12's (with good driver mod) while I was at 12 flat to 12.3. What mods were they running, typically the usual, CAI, tune & exhaust many had a lot of tire (mufflers not really perf increase) and until they raced my car they were pretty happy. I raced a 2016 5spd with CAI and tune, he ran a 12.8@114, I ran a 12.1@117, imagine how pissed off he was (he was ready to sell), I was on stock 20" Goodyears while he had DR's, now times that by 10, that's how many gen 1 Coyote - gen 2 Coyote's I have raced and beat, the worst ones had bad drivers who blamed the car, there is no excuse to run 13.4 in a gen 2 stick but many do or worse. I have never run into any 18's at either drag strip but I know of a few faster than mine at 11.8 bone stock, they run at GLD in Wisconsin.

Bad driver mod can have a negative impact on any car and I'm not perfect but a 12.0@116 in bad DA which ain't nothing to sneeze at. I've raced at Byron and GLD many times since April when I bought my Mustang and it has been solid, no issues no ticks except for Adv Trac turning itself back on and driving me crazy which I can't do anything about until nice weather comes out in the Spring and I can hit the track again.

Now keep in mind this has been my experience, the times I went to the track the Mustang's there might not represent the vast majority of Mustang's out there so take this as it is, just my experience.

If you have the funds get a new '19 A10, CAI, tune and E85 and you're in the mid to low 11's, you're not doing that in a gen 2 or older with just those mods. If you don't care about drag racing numbers as much as people like me then any gen 1 through gen 2 is awesome, especially with a supercharger, it's the great equalizer after all. You might be better off used or heck there are supercharged base GT's at less than 40k new to be had, that's another option.

Good luck on your hunt for a new car.

A Mustang GT is the last car on Earth I would recommend to buy used. Regardless of the model year.
I can think of a few others, Demon, Corvette, Camaro.... all of them have a huge chance of being abused and little chance of knowing when looking at them unless you know what to look for.

I would go A10 over A6. Check out all the videos on YouTube with A10. Super fast and it has that OMG feeling However ...

Manual all the way for me but your not buying a car for me.
Especially in drag mode, that bang into 2nd and 3rd gear is frackin epic.
