[?] '18 Intake Manifold on '15-'17

Silly question, but is anyone getting false knock with this manifold?

My car is seeing a minimal amount of knock (around 1 degree positive knock) on WOT pulls. Also, on these pulls, sometimes the knock will not consecutively go negative (i.e. 0.00 to -6.00 on a pull). It will float around the same number in the negative (i.e. -1.00) on the pull.

I am but it's not because of the manifold. It's something in my exhaust or the cover plate between bellhousing and engine. I only get it when I stab full throttle from little or between quick/power shifts. In that situation I get sustained 3-5 deg false KR....a flat line on the log. Real knock would have peaks and valleys.

I am going to double check and make sure the CAI isn't banging on the hood, but that's a different kind of sound that the sensors aren't tuned for.

Got the car back today. 18 IM on, with GT350 throttle body, Roush CAI without inner Venturi tube, flowmaster scavenger x-pipe, Flowmaster outlaw axle back. Stock cats. Car is running great, obvious increase in throttle response, and power. Will post dyno sheet later.
Car made 413 WHP and 354 rear torque. This was on a mustang dyno. Was hoping for more, but the tuner who is the best there is in this area said that was really good power for his dyno. Very happy with how the car feels. Pulls like an animal now.

How is the fit with the Roush CAI with the different throttle body position on the '18 intake?

I've been curious about this for when the time comes to install this winter since I'm running the same CAI. But I'm guessing there's plenty of compliance with the rubber elbows....

The Roush should be similar to how it is with the GT350 CAI, as they both have a flex joint in addition to the compliance in the coupler. Fits fine here.

Hi first post here.

Have a vmp 93 tune. Bought manifold with pigtail connectors.

Will the car work the IMRC correctly without retune?

Apparently my UPR plug and play catch can hoses from stock intake setup are different sizes from the 2018 so I need to ask UPR if I can get another hose or run hoses reversed with check valve pointing toward catch can from passenger valve cover.

Right, I read through some random pages and saw someone posted that the signal volts are higher for 18, the 15-17 put out almost 1volt less.

Are you familiar with reading logs? I'm thinking of sending you a log on datazap to see what you think. All of my knock is going from when I floor it, and it's extremely frustrating.

Already posted this on my build thread but.. just wanted to say we ended up installing the ported 2018 manifold and Ford Racing 47lb injectors yesterday afternoon. The engine feels AWESOME. @BmacIL sent it to D Mark Performance for the porting job, which was done by hand. Bmac is the man. Without him this might not have been possible.

Before - stock intake manifold - JLT cold air - Lund FF tune.

Now - ported 18 manifold no IMRCs, JLT, LU47s, Lund 93 base file same


Even on a base file the engine runs great. Night and day difference. Powerband is strong and up top - it matched or exceeded my expectations. It feels really smooth how it delivers the power and builds. Well worth it.

I'll have to datalog it and send it back to Lund but they may not even need to make any adjustments.

My only thing is I am wondering if I am getting the brake booster assist I should be getting. And I notice that I am seeing slightly less engine vacuum than on the stock manifold. 19.5 inHg at idle vs 20.5 before the swap. Also at full engine brake I'm seeing 23.5 inHg max whereas I used to see 24.5 inHg. Still trying to figure that out.

The manifold swap was well worth it. Pulls like a beast on 93 octane. Feels like more power than when I was on E85 using the FF tune.

Looks like Ford is catching on to this 18 IM craze. Price shot up $110 from LMR. I bought mine 2 weeks ago for $329 and it's now $439
