I have a 2015 GT was thinking of purchasing the power pack 2. I have purchased a extended warranty through Ford Protect. If I go through the trouble of having an ASE tech install it, will Ford performance honor the extended warranty? or since my 3/36K warranty will be up in August of this year? I only have 9k on the car but the 3 years is up in August of this year.

I chatted with the so called experts at Ford Performance and they have no clue.

Here is the transcript:

Please wait. An operator will be with you shortly.

Steve says:
Hello craig. My name is Steve, I am not sure how it effects the extended warranty
craig says:
so your telling me you are ford perforance and u dont know this simple answer?
Steve says:
Correct
craig says:
unbelievable i guess you dont want to sell your product then
craig says:
who would know this then?
Steve says:
You are asking about a warranty that is not a Ford Warranty.
Steve says:
We do not have an extended warranty. It is covered for 3/36 from the new in car service date. If anything fails after that and they can prove our kit caused the damage it would not be covered.
craig says:
no I am talking about a ford extended warranty
craig says:
the payment went to ford motor company
craig says:
for the warranty
Steve says:
That would cover our kit if it causes damage That would NOT cover our kit if it caused damage:shrug:

The legal answer is that the Ford Performance warranty replaces your extended warranty for anything related to the parts and what the parts can affect.

The real life answer is that it depends on your Ford dealership and how friendly they want to be.

Become friends with your Ford service manager, get him birthday and Christmas gifts. Warranty life will become much easier for you.

Exactly. Your 3/36 gets replaced by FRPP, and the remaining 5/60 powertrain warranty afterwards remains the same. However just like with any other mod if Ford decides that the damage was caused by the FRPP stuff, then they will deny coverage. If they determine it wasn't caused by FRPP stuff, then the regular 5/60 powertrain warranty will cover it as usual.

It's simple. The FPP warranty is for 3/36 from the in-service date of the car, meaning if the FPP parts cause failure during that time frame, they pay for the warranty claim. Outside of that, there is no warranty by FPP. If the FPP parts cause a failure, then that warranty claim could be denied.

Sooooooo many people "I want the Ford performance pack to keep my warranty". Wrong Ford performance replaces the factory Ford warranty on their parts, and any affected parts. Roush warranty same thing.

To be fair, it's still better than nothing. Nothing against Lund/VMP/AED or any of the other big tuners, but I don't expect to see them warranty an engine if it blows up with their tune. FRPP may however depending on lots of other factors obviously.

This is exactly what the FP warranty does: it covers their parts and any failures that occur as a result of their parts through the end of the original 3/36K period. That's more than most aftermarket companies will do -- most of the others will cover their own parts, but not other failures that are deemed by Ford to be caused by their parts.

It does NOT void your 3/36K limited warranty or 5/60K powertrain warranty, but if you have a powertrain failure between 3/36K and 5/60K you MAY get a warranty claim denied by Ford & your dealer.
