Since I was trailering the car home, I asked the dealer to leave the fuel alone. So, today I dropped by the local gas station for 10 gallons of the good stuff.

You bring up an interesting topic..... break it in under a higher octane (ignition advance) creating more HP, or under lighter conditions using 93 or 91 (min) to start the break in process?

I noticed a big difference between 100 octane race fuel vs 93. I don't know the right answer, but you probably aren't going to be pushing it that hard so early on in the break in period to notice the difference or justify the cost.

Nothing too controversial, just wanted to get a decent fill in it. I'll dilute it a bit with 93 octane on the first drive. Break-in will be the same as I did with my prior car - rack up 200 miles on a nice weekend out here in the country where there is no traffic and good roads, working my way up through the gears, progressively giving it more RPM, with plenty of engine breaking and smooth application of throttle - not jumping on it.

H2614 seemed to like that break-in procedure, so I'm hoping JR265 responds the same way.

That's exactly how I did mine too.

For those of you who prefer to have the dealership leave the shipping spacers in the suspension of your R if you're having is shipped home or if you're picking it up and loading it in a trailer for the trip, I just wanted to give you an update on removal.

The front ones (on the right) are easy to reach over the top of the tire - they're placed in the coil spring and when the car is just lifted enough to unweight the front wheel, there's enough droop to pull them out.

The rears (on the left) require the same - jack the car so that the tire is just clear of the ground to allow the suspension to droop, then you have to reach in around the tire to the shock absorber, where the spacers are hooked on the shaft near the top - just below the stop. It's not visible over the top of the tire, but you can do it by feel. Just rotate them so that the slot is facing forward, then pull them back from the top and they'll pop right out.

Not sure which, but originally one set was white and the other yellow, however lately it seems that most people who post pics have all yellow, like mine.

Now that these spacers are out and the car is on the lift, I'm giving the underside a good cleaning before installing the splitter.

All I can says is dang, I think I brought half of Daytona Beach back with me. Not sure what the guys at the rail yard did, but it looks like they were running it on the beach!!!! My guess is that with all the rain that was passing through when my car arrived at the Florida rail yard, there were puddles everywhere and, instead of being filled with mud like the puddles up north here, these seem to have had their fair share of sand. With the splashing around - and maybe when it was on the truck - the underside, wheel wells, and underbody trays accumulated a bunch of sand. I'm in the process of hosing and blowing it all out, and then will give the underside a good wipe-down with WD-40 or something similar.

Overall, though, I have to say that I'm really happy with the condition of the car - it came through all of its travels - 2,500 miles of rail, truck, and enclosed car trailer - very well.

Working with my local Xpel installer to get him out sometime in the next week or so, then I'll be ready to venture out on the roads and throw some rocks with these sticky tires.

Don’t forget the foam side spoiler blockers.........
Those are ok but cannot do much when dealing with Cup2s. Highly recommend the real rock guards (ZL1 Addons, California Pony Cars etc)

+1 on the full rock guards. Once installed no one will notice them except you.

Some behind the scenes work the last couple of days - today I was able to lock-down an extended warranty (Ford ESP program) using the credit I received from the pro-rated refund from the plan on my past car. Since that plan wasn't in force very long, I received all but fifty bucks back, which I applied to the new program. Unfortunately, with the price increases a while back, the new plan cost me an additional $500 or so - still not bad to get an 8 yr / 36k / 0 deductible plan on this car.... so now I'm good through early 2026!

I also made an appointment with the Xpel guy, who will come and do the application at my shop, so no worries about driving it unprotected.

On the down side, it's still sitting in my shop - although up on the lift while I continue to do the cleaning - with just 8.5 miles on the odo. I should have it on the road by Memorial Day weekend, out there getting those crucial first 200 miles on the clock.

That's good news. I plan on getting an ESP also since I know this will be a long term keeper, but in Florida the prices are set and insane compared to what most pay.

My car is still sitting in Flat Rock even though it was produced on the same day, so don't feel bad about not driving it... at least you have yours. :)

My car was produced a couple of weeks before yours and it just got on a rail car the last week or so therefore suggest yours will be moving real soon.

That's good news that your's is on the way! I am in a very comfortable holding pattern now because I decided to turn the wait into an opportunity to finish my garage- I've done a bunch of work including adding Air Conditioning, finishing up my Racedeck flooring, painting, and full LED fixtures throughout. I've had Gladiator cabinets up for a while also. I have made the wait into a very good thing because now my garage is how I've always wanted it. :) I did not plan on doing any of this but now I feel blessed that I had the time to get it done. So I turned a negative into a positive. :D
