Jamal Hameedi leaving Ford

Hey all.

Sad news today. I follow Jamal on Instagram and he posted he is moving to landrover to work with them on vehicles. 27 years with Ford. Big shoes to fill that's for sure.

I hope this hasn't been discussed but didn't find anything.

What’s going on is that Ford hired a non-car guy as a CEO. They did this to right their financial ship for the long term and, IMHO, that means performance is going to take a back seat to profit margins for awhile.

Yet more manufacturers are pushing performance as it attracts people to the brand so the new CEO is going against the industry in this regard.

I was brand loyal evolving from the Mustang but if the GT500 is Dog shite and the next Gen Stang is bleh, I'm seriously looking at jumping ship.

Really not liking the direction Ford is heading.

It looks as though we are potentially on the cusp of another dramatic change in automobiles, with small turbo engines, hybrids and electrics all coming in as options to replace the V8. Very similar IMO to the early 70s when hindsight showed that "progress" really wasn't an improvement. I guess time will tell whether most people end up viewing complex hybrids, quiet electrics or buzzing bee 4 cylinders to be better than V8s.

I probably wouldn't be in a hurry to "jump ship", but it's possible I never buy another new Ford. I really like my Mustang, but I won't change cars just to have something newer.

I really don't want to be that guy that trades in a great car in order to buy the next "Mustang II".
