Just wondering what kind of fluid the new A 10's come with, and if owners will be able to service them. Or are they sealed? My GT >should< be here this week, I have heard folks talk about the Manuel trans. and diff fluids, but not any A 10 oil talk, I would presume they use a, I hope! high quality synthetic oil!

Change interval for ATF is 150k miles! Is anyone really thinking about this now?

Trans is not sealed but has an over 100K mile service interval in normal use. After every event per owner's manual for open track use when sessions are longer than 15 minutes. See page 13 of the owner manual in the warranty section on track use recommendations.

I am very skeptical of manufacturers recommending such long drain intervals. I have a 2010 Infiniti G37 sedan and the manual says the fluid is lifetime. Lifetime of what? Warranty? How long I own it? I mean once the car is out of warranty, the transmission could tank and Ford/Infiniti/(Insert name here) or any other manufacturer has zero liability on their hands.

I am not here to argue but I will change my GT's fluid once it hits 60K miles. Once my Infiniti reached 60K miles, I had the transmission flushed with the synthetic fluid Infiniti recommends. I have 90K miles on the car and the trans shifts smooth and fast. I know when the GT A10 has accumulated 60K miles, I will certainly be changing the fluids. I live outside D.C. and the car goes through all kinds of driving situations (stop and go for 10 miles about 3 times a week) 70mph cruising for 40 miles and everything in between. I drive the car on back roads every weekend where I push it and I am sure that reduces the trans oil life over time. Anyhow, I will end my rant now :headbonk:

Thank you DickR! and yes I agree with you Gmupatriot! my >other< vehicle is non other than a 07 G35X, and yes, I have changed the tranny fluid myself on that car at 50,000 miles. actually, the Mustang has a lot to live up to, because that Infiniti has been a heck of a sedan! done several HPDE's in it, drag raced it at B.i.R. and raced it against some Audis on a plowed lake several years ago! It can do it all, just not as quick and fast as the Mustang.....

I agree. I know there is a good argument against what you're saying, but I'm old and just cannot run the fluids as long as Ford recommends. To me it's cheap insurance to change the fluids, and it give me a little peace of mind.

I agree, the G35/37 cars are built tough. My car is 8 years old and I have not have anything breakdown. Only thing I have have to replace are wear items such as brakes, rotors, tires etc. Mechanically, the car is solid as ever and the Mustang certainly has a lot to live up to in situation as well :)

I am sure my argument can be buried in dirt lol but like yourself, I would rather spend a $100 in oil change than thousands to replace a transmission/engine.

Or you can be wasteful and spend money when not necessary.

I follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and have yet to have a car or component crap out after 32 years of car ownership for lack of fluid changes.

Well you see Kid, that's the great thing about America. I can spend my money when I want, and anyway I want.

They're hydraulic fluids. Never get changed really unless trans rebuilt. Have a 280,000 mi 03 toyota with auto I bought new. Shifts gears same as day i got it. The trans dipstick is actually sealed for dealer inspection only it appears.

Amen to that and as it should be.

Now I’m not a racer but I do drive’em hard and hit the strip every once in a while. Maybe regular racing calls for a modified schedule but I’ve never needed to modify my intervals.

I don’t do a “break in” oil change. I run new car oil until the manufacture’s suggested interval.
