Right, because other than hauling shit or having really cramped sex, what would be the point of it in a Mustang??

In other news, I got my Firehawks mounted and balanced on Drifts today. It was a really impressive experience. Normally I just tell the guy at Wal-Mart to give me the cheapie Douglas tires on steelies and I'm good to go. But I pulled up to a new tire shop with an excellent rep and the garage door opens, 4....4!!!! guys come out to my car, each grabs a box with a wheel in it, each one opens the wheels and then proceeds to point out these borderline microscopic imperfections in the paint, takes pictures with their phones, and then asks me if I'll be sending them back......um...no...then they ask me if I want the wheels wrapped in padding when their done....again...no....a few pieces of cardboard will do. I go back a few hours later to pick them up. 2 guys put the bagged wheels in my car and after paying I was on my way. I actually felt kinda snobby getting that good of service! It's going to suck going back to Wal-Mart for beater tires.
What shop did you use?

So far so good. Tires barely fit inside with seats down and one riding shotgun

Couldn't really do much with them as I drove home in heavy traffic entire way and this morning there was a light drizzle. I'm not experienced much anyway with tire performance reviews or even pushing the car remotely to it's breaking point

So far though tires seem quieter (p zero were pretty much end of life which I think tires get louder as they wear? So maybe not fair comparison) seem like softer ride and of course it's good to have traction again when accelerating from a stop.

I managed 31k and change out of the pirellis so can't complain too much on them.

Wait...you got 31k miles out of the P-Zero's??

It doesn't look like he has the performance pack.
Yep, he could be running the P Zero Neros. Although I'm on track to get about 25k from the front P Zeros but nowhere near 31k from the rears.

Dusty and sitting on my garage floor.

Unfortunately this week sucked weather/work-wise...But I've blocked out Sunday for cars. I'm pulling off the factory wheels, snapping pics and getting an ad up for them. Throwing on the Firehawks. Then doing oil changes and possibly brakes on both of our Subaru's.

Sunday night I'll definitely be able to report back at least on look and performance in 40-50 degree weather.

EDIT: I do see some of the typical dots/paint/markings on the sidewalls....what's the best way to get that junk off before I dress? Thanks

I think any tire cleaner should take that off. Brillo pad or similar otherwise.

Brillo won't mar/damage the surface??

Also, the tire shop did leave some pieces of the stickers on the treads. Other than picking at it with fingernails....tire cleaner for that to or something else?

Thanks

Oh that'll come off within minutes of driving. The brillo won't hurt anything as long as you don't push hard.

The Firehawks have a UTQG rating of 340 while the stock P Zeros have a rating of 220.

Im am still learning and researching my next tire choice, but I was under the impression that the treadwear rating was correlated to the traction (hardness).

I know there is a lot of hate against the P Zeros, but personally I think they offered good grip for the first 5-7K miles.

Do the Firehawks offer the same amount of grip, or simply a slightly longer life?

Both. A low tread-wear rating does not always have a correlation to traction...especially between different manufacturers. Case in point, the MPSS and PS4 offer both excellent traction and better treadwear than nearly all competitors.

I have found the Firewhawks to offer more traction, better predictability and also better tread-life.

Ive been reading they the sidewall is quite soft on them, which is good for comfort, but not ideal when pushed on a road course.

I do track the car, and while one tire "cannot do it all" I am not competing, and would like to retain the 'drive up, track, drive home' convenience.
