On a 9.5" rim...I was planning on going 275/40/19. Width is the only area I'm questioning. I figure the extra 5mm will give a little more protection against a bump/pot hole so the seal doesn't give.

After seeing some with 255 and others with 285...just wanted to ask what is optimal?

Thanks!

9.5" wheel with 275/40/19 tire is the factory rear setup on the GT Performance Pack cars. You could check out GT PP car photos to see if you like how it looks.

I guess my concern is if such a wide tire will screw up maneuvering up front? When doing quick swerves, peeling out at stop lights, hard brakes, etc....will wide tires up front put me at any disadvantage?

Thanks

No. They do not limit travel/lock and will actually improve front grip. The wheels you chose provide enough clearance to maintain full lock.

Ordered a set of 275/40/19's this morning. $746 OTD!

My pressure sensors and rims should be here tomorrow. I'll drop everything off at the tire shop Thursday morning and then after work I'll pick them up.

Hopefully today and Thursday we'll get some good heavy rain to wash all the salt away so I can install the new wheels over the weekend and start enjoying them.

Thanks for the info

I was at a track day last Friday and several guys were running these tires. Everyone I asked said they really liked them and they were performing well on the track. They seem like a huge bang for your buck!!

The good news is that they do well in cool & cold weather (night and day better than Pirelli Pzeros), so outside of snow you're safe. Enjoy!

Joined the indy 500 club. Almost went with nitto as I always had good experience with them on trucks.

Like a dummy I shipped to my house so gonna have to haul these to the installer. Anyone know if 4 tires can be stuffed in the trunk? Or combo of trunk and interior?

With the seats down in the S550...I would think so.

I'm getting mine mounted and balanced on my Drifts this morning. I can't wait!!

Yep. 1 in the trunk. 2 in the back seat (you might be able to squeeze 3, depending on the size you got) and one in the passenger seat.

I always seem to forget the seat folds down
Right, because other than hauling shit or having really cramped sex, what would be the point of it in a Mustang??

In other news, I got my Firehawks mounted and balanced on Drifts today. It was a really impressive experience. Normally I just tell the guy at Wal-Mart to give me the cheapie Douglas tires on steelies and I'm good to go. But I pulled up to a new tire shop with an excellent rep and the garage door opens, 4....4!!!! guys come out to my car, each grabs a box with a wheel in it, each one opens the wheels and then proceeds to point out these borderline microscopic imperfections in the paint, takes pictures with their phones, and then asks me if I'll be sending them back......um...no...then they ask me if I want the wheels wrapped in padding when their done....again...no....a few pieces of cardboard will do. I go back a few hours later to pick them up. 2 guys put the bagged wheels in my car and after paying I was on my way. I actually felt kinda snobby getting that good of service! It's going to suck going back to Wal-Mart for beater tires.
