Hey gents. Which aftermarket (6, 8 or 10 ribbed) damper are you guys running with your SC setups? I just PMd a member about his 6/6 ribbed ATI, but unsure it will work in a SC application.

ATI will work just fine, after all it's designed to replace the stock harmonic damper. Many on this forum, myself included, are running an ATI damper with an SC. If you go aftermarket you have the option to run a 10rib and/or an over driven damper.

Or are you just running the factory stocker?
Believe it or not the stock Damper is best with stock OPG and TG. Per Whipple aftermarket Damper with stock gears have caused more OPG failures than with stocks Damper. Ask me how I know this. Yes killed my motor with MMR Damper and stock OPG failed at 6k not racing street car.

Thanks guys. I am planning a SC install sometime this year. Still undecided on exactly which blower setup I will be going with at this point. Calling Terry this week finalize a few things.

I am also going to do the OPG & TG as a piece of mind as well.

Those of you who are running an ATI damper, WHICH part number ATI damper are you using and which SC are you running? The ATI that I am interested in is a 6-rib inner/outter - I don't think that will work. I think the outter needs to be 8 or 10 rib and 6 inner. Can anyone confirm that to be true or not? Can I use the ATI damper he is selling that is an OEM replacement, and put on a different pulley (8-10 rib) to accommodate a SC?

However, I am in communication with board member now about his ATI that he was using on his N/A motor. I am still awaiting his answer as to the exact part number on his. I'd hate to commit or buy it and then find out it won't work. I just checked the ATI site and seems there are several.

The balancer you need will depend upon what supercharger and/or belt setup you choose. Most superchargers are designed to bolt up to a stock engine so chances are whatever you buy you'll be fine with the ATI stock replacement 6 rib balancer. If, however, you decide you want to do a 8 or 10 rib blower pulley you'll need to change the shell or the entire balancer.
You may be better off waiting until you decide on which supercharger setup makes sense to you then buying all the supporting parts.

Wasn't this due to installation error and not the ATI dampener itself

I'm running that damper. Mine is an 8-rib with 8 inside and 6 outside and 5% OD. As was mentioned, it's a good idea to upgrade your OPGs and crank gear while you're at it.

Thanks guys. This 6/6 ATI model won’t work for my application I am wanting to do. Bummer. Will wait for another one or just buy new when I order the blower package. Thanks for your help.

You mean you’re running this brand, and not 6/6 rib I am talking about. Told the seller it’s not going to work for me. Sucks. I didn’t want to buy it only to find out I have to resale, which is what would’ve happened.

I followed procedures. I used a damper install tool, anti seize, heated the damper and ARP bolt and washer with ARP lube and good known torque wrench to 100 ft lbs.

I wasn't meaning you specifically. I thought I remembered reading that the issue was blamed on install error in general

I installed the ATI myself and no issues for me

Install error maybe an issue on some cases, but Whipple and Ford testing revealed issue in harmonics in mid RPM was increased with aftermarket dampers in general causing stock OPG to fail much more so than with stock damper.
