2018 Model- Black Roof w/Stripes available again but with a twist

Was on the Ford configurator early this morning, and it appears that you can add the black roof again combined with stripes.. but NOW they are putting the stripes over the black!

Check out the pics from the ford website- what do you guys think?

And of course if I changed my order and added the black roof, this is what I would end up with..

I'm going to admit, I'm tossed on this. Would help make it a rarer combo, one year only kind of deal which would be cool! But not sure I'm going to do it. Opinions welcome.

The black roof combo w/stripes looks fantastic on Grey!! Here's the non-R

I'm a stripes OR black roof guy...never cared for both together and certainly not with the stripes over the black roof as well.

The black/gray combo looks good with how they change the stripe color over the black roof. Otherwise... no.

My wife had suggested that a while back. The only way I would do that would be if I had matte black stripes. I have the roof stripe kit, but never executed that option.

The roof strip kit cost me a little over $400. The price has since gone up and it now shows that the item cant be shipped..... I don't know how that works, but mine was shipped to me when I bought it back in July.

True, but I had heard a rumor that this was what they were going to do and then it popped up. Does anyone have a connection that can check to see if the stripes will indeed be going over the roof?

If you're paying for the stripes anyways, they should put them on... if you don't like them on the black roof... peel them off, simple as that.

That would be my guess. No way the buggy configurator could be wrong, right? ;)

Even though up until now the configurator had not allowed 2018 to have black roof and stripes, I have had that configuration on order since the 2018 orders opened up. The order bank that the dealers use has always allowed that combo.

Only way to know how it will really look is to find a 2018 built with that combo. I volunteer my build. Just need to get Ford to put it into production. :tsk:

I purchased my lightning blue used and it came with the black roof. If I had ordered new I would not have added that option. I now think it looks great on my '17, but not digging the stripes over the black.

We'll see sooner or later if this is really just a Configurator bug...

My dilemma, although not really a problem, is solved... a RRR without the optional black roof and you can't get OTTS on red (or orange) R's anyway. But if I ordered a MY2018 R then one of my choices would be like that LFGR I posted above.

I'm not a fan of stripes on the black roof, but I don't see a problem with it being an option so others can make that choice.
