Has anyone else experienced a low level buzzing or hum when you have an iPhone (or other USB device) plugged into the stereo? I have Sync 3 with the Shaker 9 speaker system. Whenever any audio is active (MP3, Streaming, phone calls, even Siri) there is a notable buzz coming from what sounds like everywhere. This occurs with multiple phones and cables, and does not occur in either of my other 2017 Sync 3 vehicles. I imagine this will just end up with me taking it in for warranty work but curious if anyone else had a similar issue.

Buzz does not happen with Sirius or FM.

Questions:

Do you only hear the noise when the iphone is plugged in to the USB? You said multiple phones, were they all iphones?

Are these cables all Apple cables or are they aftermarket? If they are aftermarket try an OEM cable. The OEM cables actually have a specific shielding and resistance.

Do you have the same noise when using Bluetooth only to the Sync 3?

Good questions. This happens with iPhones and at least one Samsung Android tablet. I don't have enough other devices to test. Happens with both Apple branded and aftermarket cables (Anker) of various lengths. These same devices and cables do not exhibit the same behavior in either of my other 2017 Sync 3 vehicles. The noise is not present over bluetooth, only USB and affects both the dash USB port and the one in the armrest console.

There also seems to be a volume issue when plugged in on phone calls though I haven't tested for audio. Recently on a drive I had to literally max the volume on a phone call just to be able to hear it. I imagine that this is an issue either with the USB port itself or the audio controller.

Could it be a ground issue?
LTE data signal sounds like a buzz when it's working so if the connection has a ground issue it might get sent to the amplifiers.

Certainly a possibility. I'll probably just have the dealer try to figure it out as I don't see evidence of any widespread similar issues/TSBs

I think you guys are likely on the right track. May be a few weeks before I can get it checked out but I will report back in case anyone else has a similar issue in the future.

Thanks for the replies!
