USB charges iPhone but Sync doesn't see it.

Iphone 16 pro max ios 18.6

couldn’t get iPhone to load apple car play. Will hook up blue tooth and MAN was the gas taken out of my sails when i realized no bluetooth carplay!!!!

so… off to get a cable (known working cable)

when i hook up to the, USB the phone starts to charge, but carplay doesn’t start NOR is there a USB option under “sources”

i tried both USB’s under the stack and in the console…. Nuthin’

is this a software thing, a hardware thing, or a phone compatibility thing?

are you using official cable from Apple? Not all cables are CarPlay compatible, unfortunately. They'll work as a charger but not good for CarPlay. Out of 6 different cables I own only one connects to CarPlay. Got iPhone 15 pro max.

Problem is we’ve switched to 16’s with the USB-C. I dunno what cable im tryn. Maybe i’ll get one of the kiddos 15’s with the apple lightning cable / usb cords n see if thay shows up

Ok…. So i just tried an older phone with a Standard USB/lightning cable cord and that worked…. So its either my iPhone 16 or the cable…

will purchase a different cable tomorrow and go from there

found ONE cable out of 10 usb-usbC cables that I was able to find in my house that worked!!!!!

and it works under the stack and in the console…. Crazy! Checked the ones that didn't work in the car and 6 of them worked on my guitar to phone interface..(thats where i took the original one i said was “known good”) tossed the completely bogus three, left the six that worked with the interface on the guitar bench!!!!

Same issue here with 15 pro max. Haven’t found a cable that does more than charge the phone. Doesn‘t recognize the USB audio connection at all.

I get this issue from time to time, even with a good cable. I have to shut the car off and restart to get it to recognize.
