Driver side rear footwell SOAKED!

Hey guys. As the title says. I went into mustang today just to make sure all is well and the driver side rear footwell is absolutely soaked. The front felt dry under the mat but the rear is just totally F’d up. You press it and the water is visible.

Any ideas why? Going to book it in with Ford ASAP but is there anything I can do to prevent it from getting worse.

Is your drivers window going fully up or sitting correctly on the seal?

What do you mean you went into the Mustang to check all is well. Is it in storage? Inside?

I have a feeling i may have had a similar issue - i didnt check for any dampness but as i put in another thread - had crazy steamy windows after having driven the car to work and leaving it for half an hour or so. Dampness inside may have been the culprit. Also i’m sure i heard water sloshing around when i was driving, not long after we had all that snow...

Will go out and check in a bit, full of wine and cheesecake right now lol

Driver window seals fine and is fully up.

What do you mean you went into the Mustang to check all is well. Is it in storage? Inside?

It’s parked outside. I just don’t drive it in winter as it isn’t my daily.

Very likely you have the same issue. Mine was fine as I check it regularly. After the snow it was really steamy. Now I know why.

Manders thinks it’s a rear window seal of the firewall seal. Apparently there is a TSB for it

Weirdly it is just the driver side rear footwell. The driver footwell is dry.

Confirmed - exact same issue. At least I can kill 2 birds with one stone whilst i’m up there to get my oil life warning seen to!

What backing has the carpet got? If it’s foam you need to make sure it properly dried out. Horrible job!

I would give the front a good check since the couple of people who have had this problem also found the front to be damp but rear soaking. When pressure tested by Ford both were found to be a failed grommet in the front bulkhead. Ford removed seats and carpets to dry them out.

2 other causes have been failed windscreen seal and pressure washing along the door seal.

Thanks...thats useful. Front is indeed wet too, but the rear seems worse. Nice to have something to quote to Ford!

Currently spending some time with towels and a portable heater trying to get water out! There is a lot of it under the carpet.

Annoyingly there is a lot of rain/snow due here overnight

yup, half my front footwell is wet too on the drivers side. Might go halford and buy a cheap cover just to protect it from rain tonight

I think its that recycled cloth type backing.

Yea this stuff - move the drivers seat all the way back, theres a small flap covering the vin...

There are motors in the seats, best check there are no connectors or electrical components touching damp carpet. Maybe raise seats to max.
