Perhaps somewhat continuing down this side road that the discussion is taking... I've never driven an EB and it's not something I ever considered (for longer than 10 seconds anyway).

As is likely the case with others, I bought (primarily) into the 'American' aspect, the fact it's an iconic car and a 'badge' that I've known of and loved since I was a kid, and (secondarily) because I've already spent years driving around in what I consider to be samey, over-nannied, turbo engined 'Euro' cars, and I'm utterly bored with them... plus I've lived in the US and always craved that V8 sound... so it had to be a V8 for me...

BUT... I totally understand why the EB exists, and take away the fact that with a standard exhaust it sounds like when the council guys are strimming the grass verges along the roadside, it shows on paper to be a very capable car, perhaps more than capable bearing in mind its capacity.

We're all different in our approach to, and reasoning for, purchase... mine for example being as a weekend toy and plaything (I've got a moderately sporty but nevertheless underwhelming, as far as driving experiences go, Skoda Rapid 1.2 TSi for daily and wife use), but some don't have the luxury of two cars or more at their disposal and want something different they can cherish and be proud of ownership of, yet still practical (especially as a DD), as well as being more affordable both running cost/insurance wise.

As has been stated above, there are many many people who wouldn't be driving a Mustang now if the EB didn't exist, so was it a shrewd move by Ford... yes of course it was, despite the 'true' Mustang clique's utter disapproval.

It's a mistake, in anything but banter, to mock, exclude or question the validity of the EB just because of it's engine, because it's still a Mustang, and those who have bought one still share the same passion for their car as anyone with a GT does... and lets face it... with the way things are going, the EB is where we're heading in the future with twin turbo V6's likely being the next evolution, as governments worldwide exert ever increasing pressure on car manufacturers, and higher tariffs and taxes on consumers for their environmentally unfriendly choices!

The opening question was 'Anyone happy with an Ecoboost?'... and in as far as I can, my answer to that would be 'Yes'... I'm happy that the EB exists as it's part of what's made the Mustang a true world car with a following which I'm really enjoying being a part of!

i drove ecoboost and gt before buying. if the gt wasn't available i totally would have bought the ecoboost, seemed like a great car and on paper makes total sense. my favourite car before the stang was an old rev1 mr2 turbo which I tuned the f*** out of and was so much fun on boost. I'm sure a well tuned ecoboost could make some great figures.

The V8 roar is obviously nice, but not a deal breaker for me. For a car with over 400bhp it really does feel quite slow until you're really high in the rev range which bugs me. I don't remember noticing a huge difference in test drive speed, if any. If you plan to track, or drive down the motorway at 100+ miles an hour then the GT all day long but neither of those are me.

to sum up, the only real reason for me to get the GT over the ecoboost is street cred and the noise, if neither of those are important to you the ecoboost is a great car.

having said all that, i've lost count of the number of people who've asked me "what litre is it?" and every time I've been thankful i went for the GT. I know that sort of thing shouldn't matter, but sometimes it does. And like i said the V8 roar is nice :D

You don't say a dyson hoover isn't a dyson because it's got a different fucking motor in it do you?
Mustang had a range of engines from V4, Straight 4, V6 straight 6, and V8

The smaller engined variants are still mustangs, and were bread and butter to ford back in the 60’s and 70’s

In my view Nothing’s changed, a Mustang is a Mustang.... the engine is secondary.:D:)
Both very good (and true) points, and probably less rambling than my previous post :) :amen:

Dyson is a brand of vacuum cleaners. The point i was making is that dyson make a range of different vacuum cleaners, just because they have differing product codes next to them doesn't make them any less of a Dyson.

But i was aware hoover is a brand and is commonly used as the name for a vacuum cleaner.

I'll tell Kira that's what she's using then.

While you're at it... explain to her also that kitchen appliances are generally white to match the wedding dress :D !

If you're still alive after that and your balls haven't been kicked up under your chin... you'll know she's a keeper!
