I search for what I want my car to sound like I have acquired an MBRP street cat-back to go with my cat-less headers. I was wondering what the break-in period is if any and how much will the sound change in this time frame. Also has anyone tried to put a resonator or something after the crossover to help with some of the high end pitch?

I have the MBRP Cat-Back Street Pro Series. The break in period on that exhaust is relatively short maybe 500 miles. The rasp mine had at high revs is basically gone and is just nice and deep through the Rev range. I've been wondering what the race version would've sounded like now that I'm at about 2,200 miles on the street one. Overall I'm very happy and am glad the rasp has basically gone away.

I also have the Street Series. Rasp is still there at the high RPM range, but it has definitely faded away over time. Still very happy with the sound.

Good to hear, I will give it a chance to break in before I pass my final judgement especially since I only have around 25 miles on it since install. I figure worst case I can add some resonators in later on and see how I like that.

Mine still has some rasp at part throttle mid RPMs. Nice rumble at low RPM and sounds like a stock car up top. It's just that 3-4k getting on the highway range that I don't care for.

My MBRP sound great at idle up thru WOT after about a 500 mile burn/break in period.

I am hoping that'll be the case with mine I am taking it out of town this weekend so I will put a decent amount of miles on it and see how it sounds. Thanks for all the input.

Right about there it really starts to get loud AND raspy. Mine after DD more than a year I don't think it's changed a bit, very loud, but not aggressive but sometimes the rasp and the volume of the rasp is actually embarrassing, I think. I've gotten used to it but its still something that I'm not thrilled with.

Looking into getting this setup as well. Post some updates after you get some miles in. I will be on boost and catless so I don't know how that will change the sound.

It took mine about 5k miles to lose some of the rasp and get significantly deeper. About 5k more past that and it deepend some more and developed a nice growl. It's got 25k on it now. I think cat less with headers may alter it to a degree that what we tell you will almost be irrelevant, but it'll definitely take more than 500 miles to get the full experience.

Mine sounded great at install and just keeps getting better. After a couple thousand miles it's the perfect sound for me.

I'll also plug beefcake for a great price, fast shipping, and great customer service.

I have the street as well. For the money spent, I'm very happy with the sound. I installed it the same day I drove from NC to FL, and by the time we arrived in FL, the sound had changed noticeably. Slight rasp up high, but not bad. Also doesn't drone for me, although some people say it does.
