NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

[GTP]

I paid $800 for Nav. Waited 18 months for Android Auto, which blows it away. I can now say "Take me to...", and speak the place, and my car answers me by confirming the right place and saying "Okay, let's go!"

Will the Ford nav update beat that?

Wish I had suffered with old school GPS unit and saved my $800. At the time no one knew if the car companies would support Android or Carplay.

Wonder what they’ll charge for the update for maps, but about time!

I logged into Ford Owner and cannot find those same notifications that HizliBullet posted a few posts up. :shrug:

I have downloaded the v3.0 update and have even put it on a USB stick, but haven't done the update yet...b/c I'm shickenchit.

When is this official update supposed to be coming?

Its from a different site now, for 19 months ford owner hasnt bothered giving us updates, I guess because Ford switched to blackberry the updates will be provided by another company

I agree with you. Nice find on the site, though, Hizlibullet! I have bookmarked the site. Would be AWESOME to get downloadable, official updates from Ford (or whoever does Sync for them...Microsoft?). A lot of car owners out there barely know where the gas nozzle goes, but I think 99% of the folks on these forums are tinkerers/mechanically-inclined to some extent, and are capable of upgrading the car's infotainment/tech on their own.

That's for the NNG navigation. It's used in some global markets, e.g. GCC. Note the languages available in the drop down. In any case, the map updates are in the works for the NA/SA/ANZ/EU/CN markets.

Yeah they’d provide updates for whatever regions they have a product in. I think there are some other locations but don’t recall. No voice support for nav for those spots so no involvement on my end. The naviextras site and such is NNG owned as well.

Yep, I haven’t heard otherwise anyway. Just monitor http://ford.navigation.com or I’ll post an update if I hear they become available for NA or other regions.

Main benefit for the map data for 16’s is some better predictive search via the touchscreen interface is enabled (already is in 17’s nav data), and both will enable some new voice search capabilities when paired with the 3.0 S/W.
