I have ordered the Tremec Magnum XL Kit. It is being built today. First time I have had a new transmission gone through. The Magnum comes with carbon fiber syncro's in second, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to have them put in 3rd, 4th and 5th. Also having the plastic shift pads replaced with brass pads.

To make up the difference with the gear ratio's I will be switching to a 4.09 gear. I'm having that along with the bearings sent out for REM polishing.
I don't know if that will help, but I know it wont hurt.


Now for the decision part. I had the Exedy ET 04 XD, which is 9 lbs lighter that stock and a twin disc good for all kinds of power. All I have to do is switch to an ET 03 XD disc to make it work..... or go with OEM style pressure plate with puck disc good for 647rwtq.

Nice my last Paxton car had a magnum in it. i would recommend getting an mgw shifter to reduce the long throws of its oem shifter. Also make sure you get the (manual) reverse lock out. You can buy a lighter spring which allows it to go into reverse with less resistance! The tremec magnum is the best manual for these cars the only drawback is its heavier then the mt-82

Thank you for the information. Which reverse lockout do you recommend?
Also I have tried to find out how much heavier, but I can't find weights of each. Any idea on difference?

The manual lock out is the one you want. Dont use any electronics. i have the lighter spring, i never installed it on mine i can send it to ya . I have no use for it since my current car is an auto!

You will be happy with the tremec, I had 4:10’s in my car with the tremec magnum. Had this S-550 come with a magnum i’d be driving a stick now!

The race prepped Magnum XL is in with all parts. We are waiting on the new twin discs from Exedy. I'm hopeful that we get to start the install this weekend. I ended up also ordering a Steeda Tri-ax shifter for it.

Hello Evil, been looking for this car for a while now never thought to look here, lots of chatter on Facebook about your car. Are you on there or any of the s550 time groups. Anyways considering the cams for my auto car. First question I have right now that I could not find is, do you have your SCJ intake ported. Thanks for any info Jeff
