I have been in contact with my dealership as well. He said there will be no more orders for any type of 2017 MY versions taken after 7/24/17. He also said the earliest to order a 2018 Mustang would be sometime in September. I had hoped for late August, but this is what he told me. :faint:
I was hoping to go order it soon :(. Oh well. At least my 2013 mustang still runs just fine.

I wouldn't believe anything the dealerships say. Mine originally said early July. Then they said Fall would be the earliest for orders. Just on Friday, they told me ordering begins in August. It is pretty clear they are pulling this out of their arse.

If it helps any - on my quest to purchase a new 17 Mustang with a RoushCharger package (just the Stg1 S/C and half shafts installed at Roush, not a Stage# car) - ended up talking to the local Roush rep and he said that Flat Rock would still take orders on 2017s until August 3rd. That would be the last day public US orders would go into the plant.

I was stuck with a local dealer who was struggling to get me a plain Jane 300A w/ a perf pack on it, so the likely best next step was to order one, and Roush's info was 8/3.

All dealers are different, but IMO you will get better and more up to date info right here than the average dealer. Most of the ones I have visited know absolutely nothing about the 2018. You may get lucky and run into a "Mustang Guy" but most of them know nothing.

Agreed. That is why I am on here. Unfortunately for those of us waiting, the ordering doesn't seem to be starting today.

So what does this mean for the 2017 MY in terms of its final production dates? Will 2017's be made until the end of September 2017 right before the switch to the 2018's? Or will production stop on them when the 2018 scheduling begins (08/17/17).

Just wondering when some of the last 2017 model year Mustangs will be produced.

Wish someone knew. I was hoping to try and get one of the latest built 2017's. The latest build dates I have seen on window sticker's online so far are late June.
I ordered my GT on 6/29/17 because that was almost the last day to order from what I could find online. It was built the week of 08/07-11/17, It has an eta of 08/24/17. My dealer tracked the car and it is in the Chicago train yard awaiting a truck to my dealer (that was on Monday 08/14/17). I was told I should see it this week, by the manager. This dealer just got a GT premium in a week ago, so I know the are still building 2017's.

And update

Initial 2018 Mustang scheduling has been delayed a week and will start next Thursday (08/24/2017) for production the weeks of 10/02/2017 & 10/09/2017 for stock orders. Per standard policy, retail orders will not start to schedule until the "OK to Buy" status is reached which is normally 4-6 weeks after the Job #1 Date.
FYI from the Lincoln Continental forum on Blueovalnews (built at Flat Rock)

That's standard operating procedure. They want to make sure all of the bugs are worked out before they start shipping new vehicles to dealerships and customers. OK to buy is given after 5 consecutive days of error free builds. Could take 5 days or 5 weeks or longer. Any vehicle made during this period has to be held, inspected and repaired before it ships which is why they restrict it to dealer stock only. In extreme cases early build cars have been held at the factory for 2-3 months or longer so you don't want your vehicle to be built before ok to buy.

^^^Thanks for the info guys. Looks like 17's will be still be built for another month or so with deliveries as late as October even for those last built cars. Interesting. Dealership's in my area all seem to have late June build dates as the latest one's. Were well into August --- I would expect July built cars to be on lots. Maybe its a regional allocation type of deal.

So wait.. if your car is a retail car? Does that mean you won't receive it till December or January? :(

Quite possible.
Oh that sucks. I might call them and see if they can change my order to a stock order. So it'll get built quicker. If not I might buy a 2017. Which sucks cause I'll lose my deposit :(
