So I uploaded my lund ghost cam tune today. Everything was nice then I let the car idle for like 10 minutes and the temperature gauge spiked it all way to the max saying its over heating. I did notice my afr was idling from 15-18. It could be a glitch but it could of also over heated as well. I went back to my original lund which idles from 13.8-14.2 which seems normal. What could have happened?? I do have kooks longtubes and no cats.

It's not exactly an efficient thing, those ghost cams. Basically changing the spark and injection timing to be where it almost stalls and then a dollop of fuel. I don't really get it but to each their own.

Head temps went up to 250 when with the old tune, it usually goes no higher than 215. Looks like im switching back even though I really love the sound.

Whoa that's WAY too high. It shouldn't get much/any above 210 even fully warmed and idling on stock thermostat. Did you check your coolant levels?

I did, and it seems fine. Id only went up that high with the ghost cam tune. When I revert back to my regular lund tune without the ghost cam, everything reads normal.

Everything read higher with the ghost cam

Temperature gauge went to the max just once randomly
cai iats went up almost to 200
cylinder head temp went up 250

I would avoid extended idling with the ghost cam tune (or just not use it at all), and I would let Lund know about this to see if its normal or if something is off.

I was thinking about getting the ghost can tune. Then I did some research and the issue with overheating came up a few times from reliable sources. I ended up choosing not to get the tune just because of this issue.

Quite normal for Ghost Cam tune - basically only for show-off.

Lund was no help at all. Theyre saying its not the tune and I should get the car checked out. I went back to regular lund tune and all temperatures stay normal.

Also another thing with the ghost cam tune, the temps all drop to normal if you stay in park but if you put the car in drive, they start to go back up.

They say people daily the ghost cam tune daily with no issues. I have kooks long tube headers with no cats. With the ghsot cam tune, the temps only go up at idle and when in gear. If youre in park or actually driving, they seem normal.

Its a novelty tune. I would only use it for short short periods here and there.

No issues running that tune here. But I keep the normal tune in it for daily use.

There is nothing innate in the ghost cam tunes that should cause an overheating issue. Just as running true bigger cams with more overlap don't make a car overheat.
